That is the 119 V8 and a very good engine. Chances are it needs a tune-up. If I remember correctly, it uses copper spark plugs so you don't get the same amount of mileage out of them as you would platinum or iridium spark plugs, Also the caps & rotors are notorious for going bad and will sometimes cause problems in wet weather and when the engine is at operating temperature in Summer weather. The wires are also a another trouble area. It is a rather pricey tune-up because to do it properly, you should replace the plugs, wires, both caps and both rotors. As for the burning oil, that means there is probably an oil leak above the exhaust manifolds. You probably have leaking valve cover gaskets. They like to leak in the back where there are 2 humps in the gasket. Try and get a latex or Nitrile pair of gloves and run your fingers across the back and see if there is fresh oil back there just below the valve cover.

MB fault codes @ 005 "Engine coolant temperature sensor
intermittent connection." It must be some loose connection somewhere. Check the
fuses, relays or worse you may have a fried wiring harness, very common with MB's.
