Soot / smoke accumulates on front rims
Nothing to do with fuel economy my friend, but that black soot is brake dust from your front pads.THAT's whats doing MOST of your braking. The front.YOUR problem, believe meit is YOU,is the fact that you do not use the emergency brake ever. Each time you put that emergency brake on,it adjusts the rear brake up a bit more, until eventually you have even braking force all around.Use the emergency brake EVERY time you park the car and get out.Eventually you'll notice that the black soot is minimal, but it will always be there a bit.Just keep the rear brakes adjusted up by using the e-brake a lot when stopped. That's also why the front pads ALWAYS wear out and back are still fine.NO emergency brake use.Rigger

The engine
and transmission in this cars drive train are fully
electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train
Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer
stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions
to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and
MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory,
to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned
with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must
perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the

My C220CDI 54 REG does not start at times when the
This could be a problem with the delivery of power to the ignition or effects of temperature. Try jump starting the car by connecting it to the battery of another. While the other car idling, try to start the car. If it starts it may be the battery or the alternator is the issue. I would suspect the alternator like you said it happened after drives. The alternator may not be charging the battery properly. Heat from the engine may affect the electrical parts of the car. If jump starting does not work, your starter motor may be acting up due to the heat. It may be weaker because of it. Check also the relay of the starter, the wires and cables for loose connection or insulation that may have gone bad that needs replacing.

Door open warning
Yes, the doorjam switch is either shorted or broken. This switch is on the cabin door opening by the hinges. In rare cases the pin may be self adjusting. Sometimes you can press in the pin by hand to see if it shuts off the interior light. Do not slam the door with your finger in the hinge area. There may be a problem with the door adjustment or the hinge may be broken and you do not know it. It can be a lose or broken wire inside the cabin shell.
