No spark from distributor spark plugs

Check the middle wire on your distributor. It's the ground for the coil. Granted you have an HEI distributor. If all the wires seem to be just fine, take the ignition module off and take it to your local NAPA. They have a load tester that tests those ignition modules. Have them test it several times. It may test fine the first 2 times, then on the third test, it might fail. It sounds like the module quit working like it should.

Torque converter stays locked when put in drive it slams into gear reverse not so much

Check for ATF leak first. It can be on the high side of the pressure line. Example At radiator or along the line. Check ATF after 5 minutes of warm up time. ===== Check your service record for past filter/atf change. The recommended interval is 24,0000 miles.

Service Engine Soon light on Oldsmobile 1988 Delta 88 Royale

The light is on because the EPA requires car makers to have the computer run checks on various pollution control systems on the car while you drive and turn the light on if anything does not pass the self test. It could be something as simple as a loose gas cap or a bad gasket on the gas cap (due to age, not miles on the car) that is turning the light on. You are right, this will not affect how the car runs, but it will fail the pollution control test. Yes, disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes should turn the light out. But you won't know what the problem is. Try to get an auto parts store, like Auto Zone, to "read the codes for you" and see what the problem is. They should do this for you for free. If not, go to another auto parts store. Once you know the reason for the light being on, you can decide what to do next.

Brake diagrams

Anti lock has nothing to do with it. the brakes operate without ABS. run the motor then turn it off. pull the vacume hose off the power booster and listen for a suction sound. if none. plug it back and start the car. pull the hose and put your thumb on it. it should ****. the booster depends on vacume to work. If you have vacume to the booster and the pedal is hard, change the booster.(scrap yard)
