The charge light came on: what's up? It still
The charge light comes on whenever the battery has a low charge.The alternator charges the battery.When this light comes on,it usually means the alternator isn't charging the battery.I would suggest having the alternator tested and replaced,if need be.
Acts like vapor lock
when they went to fuel injection the fuel that was not used returned to the tank thus cooling the fuel and ending vapor lock, my question is did you do a fuel pressure test? and di you do a fuel leak down test? and the first thing I would do is change the fuel filter. with ethanol in the gas it kills the filter. I have to replace mine every three months they just plug up from that junk. Other than that the only other thing would be a coil breaking down when it gets hot the coil shorts out when cool it starts so check those things first. be sure fuel pressure is 50 to 60 PSI and does not drop below 30 PSI for at least a minute, if it does the fuel pump check valve is bad, also the fuel sock could be bad as well.
Thermostat valve
It's a bit tricky actually. I bought a Haynes manual, and the diagram within does not display this particular motor and so is pretty useless. The thermostat housing is located on the end of the top water hose mounted sideways on the top of the engine underneath the throttle body and right next to the junction of the exhast manifold and header. You will have to remove the air cleaner box for sure, but access is extremely restricted compared to the 3.1l.

it uses 4T60ACM box, GM made. box. common too.
T= transverse box, FWD. 4speed, load rated 60 (weak)
this box shifts by mech tail end GOVERNOR
and by vac modulator and TV dentent cable.
both, 3 device set shift points on this hydramaic.
I guess you think this box is electronic shifted via TCM

it does have a TCC lockup solenoid only
ECU runs that, no TCM there.
to fix any car, learn 2 things,
what engine is there and the real name of the transmission,
the GM car as an RPO tag, and tells both. in xyz codes for sure.
GM this is a great feature.
then post symptoms all, good and bad.

What causes a harmonic balancer
This usually means the harmonic balancer is coming apart , it is made of two peices held together with molded rubber the rubber is probably worn
Can you test a fuel
yes, but you will also need a source of 12 volts, like your car battery.
Or, you can test it in the car by listening for it to click while someone turns the ignition on.
