Neutral switch 2000monte carlo how to replace
Hi there:The Neutral Safetyswitch is part of the Park Netutral Position switch and is mounted on the top of the transmission. The manual shaft runs
through it and turns the internal contacts. If you remove your air
cleaner housing, you should be able to see it on the top near the back
of the transmission under the master cylinder...In order to repair, the transmission side cover will have to be removed. However, first you should check the shifter cable adjustment, inspect
the manual shift selector lever (top of transmission)for loose retainer
nut and make sure is is not bent. With the use of a scan tool you should
be able to check the switch inputs to the PCM and also make sure the
problem is not related to some interference inside the shifter console. If the shift lever inside the vehicle is NOT going to park then the
problem may be with the shift interlock system or the lever inside the
vehicle and not the neutral switch.
If the shifter does go in to park but the vehicle doesn't start then it
could be the neutral switch, however then you should try to start it in
neutral. The two systems are not related electronically and therefore
should be diagnosed separate.

HEREThe lever assembly-manual shaft detent with internal mode switch (IMS) is a sliding contact electrical switch assembly that corresponds to the PRNDL position selected. Each of the PRNDL positions has a unique ground pattern on four wires from the PCM.The assembly consists of two major components:1.- The internal mode switch that consists of:- The housing (1), which makes up the stationary contacts.- The insulator (2), which makes up the moving contacts and is secured on the detent lever (4).2.- The lever assembly which consists of:- The manual shaft (3)- The detent lever (4)The range detection is accomplished by securing the moving contacts to the detent lever. When the driver selects a PRNDL position, the detent lever inside the transmission rotates. This rotates the insulator which in turn grounds the four wires in a unique pattern for each gear selection, corresponding to the PRNDL position selected. The IMS is electrically connected by five wires (four of which the PCM supplies voltage to and one wire that is a common ground) to the transmission pass through connector.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and

Dash lights up will not crank 2000 monte carlo ls
The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM. These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. There is where the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle.

Where can i get a owners maual for a 2000 ss monte carlo
The Government Motors website only provides downloads back to 2008. You might try the salvage yards - they can check the glove compartments of their cars for a manual - hopefully not yet water-damaged from having the windshields smashed.

If it won't come off the engine it (should just be a gasket) maybe siliconed on, and you will have to pry it off. If it is loose but won't come down its because of the oil sump pick-up that drops down deep into the oil pan. You may have to loosen the fornt mount and lift the motor up, or reach in and unbolt the sump from the oil pump. Some late models with aluminum oil pans had bolts going thru the tranny bell housing to the oil pan for alignment of the pan, but I doubt yours does.
Ok, i have a monte carlo 3.4. it over heats! ive

2000 monte carlo / noise from rear wheels
That's what it sounds like to me also. I would put the rear up on jack stands and spin the wheels to male shure wich side it is. Don't forget to block the front wheels for safety as you will not be able to set your e- brake for this test.

You should have a "vent solenoid" in the vent area, near your tank. This is a solenoid that closes your vet down after you are driving, by the computer. If this has failed closed, you can have an issue filling it with fuel. You can test these, once removed, by blowing through the line, and then apply 12 volts and a ground, and it should change.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
You don't have a fuse problem but definitely a resistor block issue. The resistor block controls the volume of air that when it's faulty it can give too much or won't give at all. I strongly suggest that you have it replaced to resolve the issue.
HOpe this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

This sounds like an antitheft security problem. When this system fails, it shuts off the starter and the injectors because it thinks its getting stolen. You can jump it at the starter which is a good sign that the ignition is locking the starter out. Starting for 2 seconds is a good sign that the injectors are off. Read this link and compare these symptoms.
