Did your husband's friend say anything about synthetic oil? In my opinion i would never use that light of oil(5-w30) in anything its just to thin, to me its like putting water in the crankcase. The only reason the manufacture recamends it is because of gas milage the thinner the oil the less resistence the engine has to turn over hense better fuel milage. If it were me i would do some resurch on synthetic oil.

There sometime is 2 fuse boxes on cars, one under the hood, and one inside the car somewhere. Check both boxes, make sure all the fuses are not blown, then if everything is good try replacing the switch in the door and/or on the dome light itself.

change all the spark plugs, change fuel filter too

Do you have tools and work on things like this or do you want to start . With out tools you don't stand a chance not trying to be mean but its the kind of thing that is complex it all has to be done in a curtian order with torque spec's to tighten parts once again in a curtian order. At least you are smart enough to know their is a problem and that will save you money everytime. And it will not cost that much if you can tell the guy what is wrong its a wheel bearing find an honest mechianic its not that big of a job

Possible problem is at bulb plug in. Take & disconnect the light from wiring connector, put DIELECTRIC grease in wiring plug after you check for corrosion. Sometimes it gets a film on connections & just need some TLC... GOD BLESS.....

No question there Diagram is on a label under the hood, in your owners manual, on the internet

could be a few things , wheel balance , wheel bearings , top / bottom ball joints , track rod ends , will need to be looked at by a mechanic to find the actual cause

If its smoking out the tail pipe a belt is not going to help.. I suspect you either have the wrong belt or possibly you are missing the belt ajuster. Go look at a 2000, prizm and see what you are missing. OR Most cars Have a belt diagram sticker under the hood showing the routing of the belt.. check to see if your car has this. It will answer your question.. DON'T SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY ON THIS CAR Till YOU MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE.
