There are fuelpump relays for electric fuelpumps. You can have a bad fuelpump with either a mechanical or electric pump. You can have a clogged filter.You can try Autozone.com and register your vehicle for free. Then you can get wiring diagrams and fusebox diagrams for the electric relays. Then you can find out which system you have.It certainly sounds like you are on the right track since you discovered its a fuel problem.

The blower motor fuse is located On the left front shock tower ON USA versions. It is inside a small plastic housing

If you are looking for the evap temperature sensor it is located in the evaporator housing

Thats a classic old motor ,wonder it hasnt rotted away by now anyway your relays if i remember rightly are in a power distributioin box under the bonnet at the back left hand side on a LHD vehicle

I don't know much about Mercedes, but that is exactly what most other vehicles will do when the MAF(mass air flow sensor) is faulty. It's always a good idea to find one at an auto wrecker, and try it. Or the fuel filter clogged? Hope this helps.

simple enough job to change but check the drive in the gearbox first in case the nylon gears have failed or the square drive ,but normally this sort of failure is due to a tight inner cable but check them anyway as you renew the cable
