I am trying to change the ignition switch in my 91 chevrolet truck and i cant get the old switch out.
f
The ignition switch is usually mounted to the steering column and is operated by a linkage rod.
NOTE
On column-mounted ignition switches, don't confuse
the switch with the lock cylinder and keys. The ignition switch is not
normally visible.
On some vehicles, the steering column support has to be removed and
the column lowered to find the ignition switch. On others, the switch
is accessible under the dash.
The ignition switch is operated by the key switch. Courtesy of Ford Motor Company.
To replace the switch:

how do i read codes for my 91 chevy silverado?
Its running rough...starts fine then a few seconds later sputs out unless i feather the pedal to keep it going. Can't drive it. check engine light came on once.
Under the dash board there is an electrical block with nothing plugged into it. there are 2 rows of terminals. on the top row on the right is terminal "a". terminal "b" is the second one in from the right. terminal diagram labeling is like this from left to right.
top row,"F", "E", "blank","C","B","A"
bottom row "G","H", "blank","blank","blank","blank"
take a small piece of wire and jump terminal "A" and "B". i found an unfolded paper clip works well. with the terminals jumped, turn the key to the on position.(DO NOT START ENGINE) with the key on, the service engine light will start flashing codes. count the flashes. it will repeat each code 3 times before moving on to the next code. your first and last code will be a code 12. that is just the test code. it lets you know you did it right. you will see 1 flash with a short pause then 2 flashes. after you see that 3 times, your next code will be your trouble codes. when you see code "12" again, there are no more. if you tell me what the codes are, i'll tell you what the mean. hope this helps.

I have a 91 chevy truck that the fuel gauge is'nt working.I tryed to ground it and check the power and it still reads full. put a differant gauge in it and still the same thing
When testing a fuel guage you should disconnect the wires to it,guage should read over full, ground the float wire, turn off key then turn back on should read empty. You have to cycle the key for guage to move.If still inop the wire is broken in the harness between the tank and the dash.Voltage on the float wire is low. When tested with a test light it will barely light the light and pulsate. This test indicates the wiring is good.

I have a 1991 chevy 1500 pickup that I purchased a few weeks ago. I noticed the aux plug(cigarette light) had no power. i pulledthe ash tray out and noticed the black wire was not connected on the side. I touched it and it sparked, so i know there was power to it. later that day I disconnected the battery and attached the black wire to the side of the plug, reconnected the battery and not only does the plug still not work but the radio does not work now either. I tested the fuses and the fuse box and there is one fuse not functioning. I changed it out and still no power. it seems that there is no power coming into that spot on the fuse box now. what could cause this? I have pulled out the radio and changed the fuse on the back of it as well. Is there a relay or another plug inline or relay that I need to replace
if you got a spark when you touch it to the side (which is the ground) the wire is a power source that should go to the terminal at the back of the lighter. there is no relay for this circuit so change the new fuse it's blown and check for burnt wires.

where is the ac relay switch located
hi, i just answered this question from another person here, you should be able to remove either the glove box, or the radio and panel to gain access to the relay cluster on top of the a/c-heater duct. the middle relay should be the a/c compressor clutch relay. there should be three relays.

I have a 1990 chey 1500 siverado 4/4 pu with TBI 350 engine. I caught wiring harness on fire as it backfired through the carb and caught on fire. I replaced all the wires frome a 1989 chevy same model all wires semed to mach up ok. I was haveing trouble with it starting any way so l took the injectors off and sprayed carb cleaner on them did not pop them out of their schell. I have replaced them with the 89 injectors distibutor with new wires rotor and cap. The above info is probably not revelant as the truck has the same problem as before it does not want to start. It is in time because it will start ok some times but it floods out after you rev it up then it craps out and starts to miss, I know it is getting too much fuel cause it seems to be flooding out. Put your foot in the trottle and crank and it eventually may start. Why is it flooding out and how do i fix it . TBI carbs are hard for me as i can work on a older carborator and fix it . Hope you can help me make this thing run as i really need the truck to run. Please Help Thanks Will Potter Urbana Mo. PS i forgot to tell you i put a new roller timing chain on as i thought the chain had slip[ped but that was not the issue!
I'm having the same trouble with the flooding after warm start...if it's the temp sensor, would the temp gauge be working? It's in a 1991 Chevy van with an injected 350 carb.

My 1991 chevy pickup with automatic tranny is not shifting into 3rd gear. Fo a while it helped to turn the ignition off and restart but now that does not always work. Does this system use a vacuum modulator or would this be a TCM problem? Where is TCM located? Thanks in advance for any help. Chuck
