More than likely its the trans switch that bolted to the transmission. They corrode on the inside and start acting up. Pretty easy to replace
I have a 2002 silverado.
Hello! This type of fault requires the use of a multimeter...There are several test procedures in which the fault can be narrowed down to a specific part or wire...If you have a meter and a wee bit of experience using it I can guide you through these procedures, otherwise it's guess work...If you do not have a meter just let me know...
First a couple of questions...Do the headlights, turn signals (external), and brake lights function properly?
The ignition switch contains a set of contacts called the "ignition key alarm switch" which tells the Body Control Module (BCM) that the key is in the ignition...The BCM controls the parking and instrument cluster illumination...We need to see if that signal is being sent...The BCM is located just beneath the steering column inside the cab...The BCM has three connectors...The connector we are interested in is C2...Do not remove the connector...Push the point of a safety pin into the rear of the connector into the Light Green wire...Set the meter to read +12 volts...Connect the + probe of the meter to the + battery post...the - probe to the safety pin...Insert the key in the ignition...Do not start...Just insert the key...Meter must read +12 volts...If not the ignition switch is defective...Stop there and send results...

My flasher has quit working
If my memory serves me well it will probably be the flasher which is in the fuse box under the hood on the drivers side. The cover for the fuse box list everything in the box.
Sometimes misses
Hi if the problem you are having is random then the best thing to do is go out and buy some fuel line cleaner of fuel injection cleaner, you can buy this product from most filling stations and car spares shops, just make sure you buy the correct type ie petrol or diesel ,
once you have bought it it will tell you on the back to pour into a full tank of fuel well dont do this pour it into only half a tank doing this will make it work a lot quicker and it will also clean a lot better.
once you have pouted it into your tank do the following
1 for the first 15 to 20 min drive normally
2 then the 2nd 15 to 20 min you need to drive a bit harder taking the revs up higher and pulling away quicker.
3 then for the last 15 to 20 min drive normal again
doing this gets the engine and injectors and fuel line working under normal and heavy conditions.
the chances are your problem is down to blocked fuel injector or muck along the fuel system some where so doing the above should solve your problem, if how ever it dont then the next thing to try would be to get the fuel filter changed and if its petrol get the plugs replaced as well
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
please rate this solution as i have whole page of unrated posts, thanks
Heater fan only works in
Your heater switch may be dirty or need a replacement. Try removing it and cleaning it with some electronic spray cleaner. Also check for burnt wires attached to the switch in back. Remove the battery terminal first.

I have no power going
These actuator motors are very bad about going bad. Have you disconnected the connector to make sure that there is not power at the motor and the actuator is just not bad? If so there is going to have to be a broken wire from the actuator to the cab somewhere. You can trace the wire back most of the way easily. But once it gets up under the dash it is going to be very difficult. Also check the switch. Make sure that it is sending power to the actuator. The switch could be bad. The power comes from the fuse to the switch, and then to the actuator.
Anti-freeze? Live in B.C:., Canada, owned truck
Your truck came with Dexcool antifreeze and is designed to be effective for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. That is only if the system has never been compromised, leaked, topped off with plain water, or contaminated with coolant other than Dexcool. The best thing would be to test the coolant with a coolant tester. Most qualified repair shops have these testers and would probably test your system at no charge. If your system has been comprimised, or the test shows the coolant is just about the end of its protective life, replace the coolant. Drain the system and refill with a 50/50 mixture of water and Dexcool. Do this while the system is cool, like after sitting overnight, and avoid the temptation to run any "flush" chemicals through the system. Those chemicals linger in the system after flushing and may degrade your fresh coolant fill.
