What gear ratio is better to tow with and how do I determine what I have now?
This question is relative to a few variables but I'll try and guide you a bit.To determine the ratio:How many rotations of the wheel does it take to make the driveshaft go around one time? 2 3/4 turns of the wheel for 1 turn of the driveshaft is a 2.75 to 1 ratio.Which is better?A strong engine unaffected by a load, would want the most revolutions at the wheels from one turn of the driveshaft. This means the engine is turning at a lower RPM but has excellent torque. A 2.75 or greater ratio would work well here and allow a higher overall speed.Same engine but a massive load: Now I want to let the driveshaft turn more, say a 2.25 ratio, so that I still have the same amount of power, although I can't go as fast. This keeps my RPM's higher and provides better torque to prevent bogging down.I used to drive large trucks (10 Ton dump types), when they had just a 5 speed transmission with a manual 2 speed differential. It takes knowing your specific vehicle and the way it reacts to the load, and the road, to determine the best gear to be in at any given time.Good luck !
Oil leak on 2002 chevy silverado 6.0 around oil pan seems to be coming from the front and dripping down the oil filter
Hello....The first thing that you want to check..since you said the leak is in front is the area around the bottom of the crank shaft..If the oil is comming from there...This is where the main oil seal is for the crank shaft bearing...If no oil is comming from that area...you can breath a sigh of relief...There are a lot of stop leak products for everything from radiators to oil systems to transmissions...I'm not a big fan beacuse ...If it can stop a leak...it can stop the flow....The best cure for an oil pan leak is to drain the oil.....Drop the oil pan...replace the gasket...and if you do it right...you'll be good to go for a long time...PS.....don't forget to replace the oil....I hope this was helpful.....PEACE.....
I get code p758 and p2761 in my silverado 2005 8V
- Your transmission received a low voltage, more than likely from the ignition. First thing is to check the ignition fuse in the fuse panel under the hood. See if it blew or has a bad connection. If this looks OK the you may have to have the ignition replaced. While this code does give a good place to start sometimes it is not as specific as needed. This is when a full scanner is used to see into the different area or your truck. They are much more effective in this instance. But I would check the ignition fuse first. There was a TCB (Technical Service Bulletin) out about this issue as well.

Yes its possible that fuel pressure is getting low or fuel filter is getting clogged or the O2 sensors are getting hot, O2 sensors when get weak, they get hot and loose communication with cars computer and due to that car stops controlling fuel and this can be problem. Also there are other possibilities like, faulty or dirty, IAC valve or dirty throttle body.Getting all this possibilities inspected, checked will point towards the cause of problem.--------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
