1993 nissan altima..... my dang

does your model have abs, is the abs light on test the the system. do this by turning on all the lights have everything on and drive and look at the speedo to see if it jumps of moves. this can indicate the speedo board is damaged.. does you model have a sun roof, this is because when the sunroof is open it tells the ecu and compensates for the roof being open. this can also add to the turning on the lights etc to test. do these and get back to this question.

My 93 Altima will not start. I did the self diagnostic and got code 55?? It started a few weeks ago ran great for the weekend, got it to work and would not crank to go home.

Josh, Code 55 for your Altima simply means no faults were found/no malfunction. Do you mean car would not crank(engine not turning over) or did you mean engine will crank, but not start. I will post troubleshooting links to both conditions below. If not comfortable, have a good Technician look at it, diagnose and estimate repair. Where is the fuse for the overhead light when you open the door?

It shoud be under the steering wheel on the left side. Other fuses relays and fuses should be located next to the battery. First start with the most simple issues to resolve the problem. Check the bulb, see if it is black or burned. If you have a portable volt meter, check if the bulb has continuity by placing one of the proves to the screw part of the bulb and the other to the tip of the bulb. If the meter shows nothing, the bulb is burned. If the meter goes all the way to the right means that the bulb is working. If that does not work, try to go to the Nissan web site to see if they have a web page where they have an online page that shows your vehicle's manual. It shoud show where the fuses are located. If you can not get it, you have two options. Go to your local Nissan dealer and ask them to provide you with a print out of the fuses location, or buy a manual for your vehicle, the one that could help you with a lot of other car prblems. If the bulb works,
