1993 Nissan Maxima - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How do i adjust the ignition timing on a 1993 nissan maxima V6?
If its the VQ 3.0 V6 then the ignition timing is done through the ECU via timing sensors. Here is a web site that has workshop manuals you can download for free. I have downloaded them for my 97 Nissan Maxima. https://manuals.co/workshop/nissan/maxima

Tail light and dash lights do not operate.
There is only one circuit. You have to trace the wire from the fuse to find the short. The wire runs to all of the parking and tail lamps as well as the instrument panel, thru the dimmer. If you find connectors along the way, disconnect them to find out if the short is beyond or behind the connector, using an ohmmeter.

1993 nissan maxima relays and fuses
Start at the battery. First make sure it has a full charge. Do not proceed until you know the battery is good and fully charged. Use a voltmeter to see if charged, or take it to a parts store for testing-it is a free service, and tells if your battery is good and can hold a charge.
Next thing is to check your battery cables. Are the connections clean and tight, both at the battery and where the other end connects? Make sure no corrosion is on the terminals-that will rob power and may not let the battery charge up or put out power.
After the battery and the cables are checked, now you should get power to the fuse block, do your headlights work now?
Follow the power path-from the battery to the fuse block. Check all your fuses under the e hood, you may have a blown fuse.

93 maxima starts in park but stops when i shift to reverse
Check all the connections on the ECM especially the ground wires. When the vehicle is put into gear, the ECM starts looking for the sensors, if the ground is bad, the ECM pulls ground current through the sensors. Then check the sensors.

My car stalled and it wouldnt start but it would
It sounds like you have a bad battery or alternator (as you guessed). Could also be corroded terminals. Check voltage at the battery the next time it starts (jump start it if you need to). If the voltage is less than 14 volts when the engine is running then you probably have a bad alternator or voltage regulator. If Voltage looks good then you need a new battery.
