Can pcv valve cause throddle like symptom on 1994 nissan altima
Pcv system is kind of nose of the engine. If you clag your nose and try to run for couple miles you gonna have breating problems need more air . so positif crankcase ventilation is controls by spring calibrated valve which we call pcv is collects blow by gases(this gases still rich for oil and unburned fuel molekuls) when engine needs it pcv opens and retun this gases into intake manifold to help emisions and reburn this rich vapors . however this return vapors also bring extra oil rich sticky debris to throttle which can cause late responds and lost of power. you should replace pcv valve fallow all small vacuum lines and inspect hoses for any crack or leak replace if necesary with same size emission prof hoses and clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaners with manufacty service information. Hi Ahill, If it is only the tail pipe it should not affect the consumption, but you may have exhaust gas coming into the vehicle at certain speeds, so I suggest you have it seen to asap, as there is a possibility of it being dangerous. My car won't turn on it makes a click noise but won't turn on, also the car hasn't been turned on for about a year
if the battery is in good condition and charged properly, then more than likeley it needs the brushes in the starter motor replacing. (this is also providing that the engine is not seized. you can check that the engine is not seized by turning it over by hand with a socket and wrench from the nut in the middle of the crankshaft pulley at the front of the engine. you may also need to remove the spark plugs just to make sure the engine is not hydraulicing from water in one of the cylinders from a blown head gasket. (i am only saying this because i dont know the history of your car)
How can you tell if your catalictic converter is clogged
Usually it the car lacks power. It is sluggish and will misfire and idle rough. You can also remove the sensor before the cat and and see if car runs better since the exhaust gasses will no longer back up in to engine. Or you could simply measure exhaust back pressure with an exhaust back preassure gague screwed in to the hole for the O2 sensor.
My 94 Nissan is stalling at Stops, & then take a while to start up again?
remove the ignition control module on top of mass air flow sensor, apply heat sink to transistor, and reinstall then change spark plugs, wires, distributor cap,and rotor, remove air intake, and clean out throttle body port with carbon cleaner, check ignition coil for lump(defective) and check pcv valve to see if it's stuck wich is located on a breather seperator on top of the idle air control valve......also,check 75 amp fusible link for battery under hood on drivers side...........in the same compartment, look for the 10 amp fuse to the alternator..........follow these instructions, and your car will run excellent.....nissan altima master 1993-1997 10 years owning a 1994 altima............been there done that.................it does not get any better than that trust me..........total money to spend should be about $120.00 dollars...........peace..........
How to time a 94 Nissan Altima
Hi Stvns, If the engine has a distributor align the pulley and pointer (both are on the front of the engine, the timing marks are on the front timing cover and the other on the crankshaft pulley.) paint a dot of white paint onto the pulley and another onto the 8 degree BTDC for ease of viewing. Find and have the correct size spanner (wrench) ready to loosen off the locking bolt of the distributor. Connect a strobe timing light, start the engine and move the distributor until the two white dots align. Tighten up the locking bolt and remove the strobe. If it does not have a distributor the timing is automatically adjusted. If it is out, have the vehicle scanned and you will probably discover that the knock sensor has become defective. The knock sensor is responsible for 'listening for ignition timing knocks and adjusting the timing. Regards John
