1997 bonneville 3800 engine vacuum leak

Look for cracked and gummy vacuum hoses on the manifold. You may find one disconnected. Sometimes you can get by with shortening the hose slightly and then connect it back..

I have a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville that is shutting off while I am driving. It eventually starts but it happens over and over. I changed the fuel relay switch but it still happens. what next?

How long since a tune-up? Are there any applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes free. Does it stall at idle or going down the highway? With extended crank, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and check fuel injector pulse. If injector pulse is missing when problem is ongoing, two things I think of, do you have an rpm signal and security system where applicable. The rpm signal comes from crank sensor. Intermittent problems can be a pain to track. Don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction.

The key to the ignition with the chip need to be

Don't go to the dealer, cause they are way expensive.  Call a couple of local locksmith shops to find the cheapest price.  Also, look on e-bay for the key and chip to save money and then all you gotta do is pay for the labor to have the locksmith program the thing for you.

1997 Bonneville stalls and dies on the road

Shell has had issues with contaminated fuel in the past cant recall what it was but it actually damaged the fuel pump. I hope thats not the issue here can get costly in some cases fuel pumps on GM are a whole assembly. DOes the gas gauge still read properly? This was a big tell with the contamination last time. Gauge would read empty even when full.

Alarm prevents 97 bonneville from starting

No clicks at all? Does it even crank over? Maybe you blew the fuse going to switch. Check all connections where the + side of the battery go to. Is there something corroded? Did you clean the terminals good when you put the battery in? Sometimes things will work that draw a light load, but when you try to crank it over it will lose connection. That is all the things I would try.

Do headlights come on in the day time automatically when car is running

Yes if your car is equipped for this to happen. Look at your headlight switch. If you have a setting for AUTO or something similar and you are switched to that setting, your lights should be on. If not you may have a problem with a blown fuse or bad head light. It may be that your car just isn't equipped with this feature. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

My 1997 bonneville wobbles all

Check for a bent wheel. Hitting a curb too hard will bend the wheel enough to cause the wobble.

I want to replace the auto leveling shocks with regular ones. Can this be done? the people at the parts store seem clueless.

There are change over kits available but the cost is more than $2000.00 in parts and several hundred more in labor. It's way cheaper to keep the factory system

My heat is not working in a 97 pontiac bonneville

You have correctly trouble shot a plugged heater core. Install a back flush kit on the car. They can be had at an auto parts store. Get new anti freeze too.

My bonneville overheated and now it wont start. i got it started once and it ran horrible and white smoke came out the exhaust

You have a warped head now that leaks coolant into a cylinder. Take both heads off and have a machine shop grind them flat. New head gaskets and you're good to go. That's an over simplified explanation. hats a big job dismantling the engine. Replace the thermostat and flush the radiator too.
