Sunfire keys are not chipped therefore there is no learning process that needs to be done. The 3 10 thing is a waste of time. The ONLY theft deterrent in this car is the starter cutout through the passlock sensor circuit. It may also cut out the fuel pump, I can't remember. Also you were probably damaging your starter by holding the ignition to start giving it power too long and overheating and damaging the starter internally. To learn a new key to a cars computer with a "chipped" key (not the Sunfire) you just turn the ignition to "on" then "off"....etc.do not hold it in start for the recommend amount of time.

Car starts up then shuts off. Theft light comes on. Took it to the dealer to diagnose. Result was bad "pass lock sensor". Dealer wanted $300 for the part and with labor they wanted to charge $615. yea right. Found online that this system can be bypassed with keyless entry module. www.gmpasslock.com. Have you changed the spark plug wires? This is the most common cause of a misfire. After changing the wires, I would then have the Timing checked and a new timing belt installed. If this doesn't fix the problem, you may have a Crankshaft Position Sensor or Camshaft Position Sensor failing. If this doesn't fix the problem, have your fuel pressure tested. Pass Lock sensor is preventing the car from starting. You need to override it. I used a remote start module. Having this installed bypasses the pass lock sensor.

check inside the distributer cap and the electronic modual is likley the prob.

One coil serves those two cylinders (no. 1 and 4), so try repllacing that coil.

These type's of symptom indicates a failed transmission in a GM car.

The speed sensor would be mounted on the side of the transmission where the speedo cable used to be.

HOW ABOUT THE RADIATOR IS IT BLOGGED? ALSO HAVE YOU BLED THE SYSTEM BY ALSO TURNING ON THE HEATER TO HOT AIR VENT AND LET THE ENGINE RUN TILL FAN STARTED.

There is no way to bypass this system without rewiring the car.
