Security light and the car will not start. What code reader do I need to clear the code?

Sorry, but there is no code and no way to clear. There are a couple ways to bypass VATS, depending on where the problem is. If the problem is in the key barrel of column, the following bypass method will cure it: http://vats.likeabigdog.com/If the problem is elsewhere, there is a more robust bypass sold here: http://newrockies.com/

My 98 Bonneville has smoke coming from the tailpipe and misses or cuts off

You either have a bad lower intake gasket or plenum gasket. Is the cooling leaking to the ground?

Code reader says it is miss firing on all

This could mean that you have a bad/fouled plug or plugs, bad plug wires, bad coil packs, a misbehaving fuel injector, or a scad of other things. I'd try new plugs and wires first. It's the cheapest fix and maybe the most likely answer. I wonder though. It seems that I've seen codes that tell you exactly which cylinders are not firing correctly. Your code seems to indicate more than one cylinder. That still points to the things I mentioned above, but also strengthens the coil pack theory, as they feed more than one plug.

Slight overheating after driving 15 miles. there

You could go back to the place that did the radiator / hose work to have them check it out. You may pay more for the solution - but it will be complete. You could check (or replace) the thermostat on your own, or continue searching for a possible fault. This can get even more expensive if you start replacing parts. To check the thermostat - remove it from the vehicle when cold. Be careful to prevent spilling / loss of coolant when removing from car. The thermostat should be closed. Place in a small pot and fill with water to completely cover the thermostat. Heat the pot on stove set to "high". The thermostat should open depending on the temperature value (185 degrees , etc.), but all thermostats should open before the water comes to a boil (212 degrees). If it opens fully, the thermostat is OK. You could reinstall it - or since it is already apart, install a brand new thermostat instead. If it does not open, it should be replaced with a new one.Check the fan. With the engine running, the fan should be spinning if a mechanical type. If electrical, the fan will turn on and off as determined by a separate electrical thermostat for the fan. When the engine approaches operating temperature, the fan will be switched on. When cooled sufficiently, it will switch off. If the mechanical fan is equipped with a clutch - the fan should be able to be rotated with the engine off. It should offer some resistance - but should turn never the less. The part of the fan in contact with the drive belt shouldn't move if there is a clutch. Under no circumstances should a mechanical fan spin freely, nor should it wobble. Electric fans should spin freely however. An important note about fans: After driving the car and shutting the engine off, it is not unusual for the electric fan to start up - even without a key in the ignition. Never attempt to touch a car's electric fan blades unless the engine is COLD. Never reach into the fan area or protective shroud of car's mechanical fan when the engine is running.Another thing that could be causing a problem is the water pump. If it is failing, the coolant will not effectively circulate between the radiator and engine block. This will cause the engine to overheat. An obstruction in the cooling system will have a similar result. Some "leak stopping additives" can reduce coolant flow in the system to cause similar overheating issues.Good luck!

HOW TO GET A POWER STEERING PULLEY OFF A PONTIAC

You will need to remove the pump and take it to a shop that has a machine that removes it or just buy a new one. Better yet get the place you bought the replacement pump to install it.

How do i know if my car is low on freon

The AC will not cool enough. If it's too low the compressor will not run because there are safety pressure switches that prevent compressor destruction .

Car will not start,is getting sperk and fuel, tries

Car no start problem is sometimes very difficult to confirm. You try all the possible things, but still you get no fault and problem is still the same.-------- In that case, you need to check few things individually. Check the spark, the battery, the crank, the fuel and other most possible parts. Click this link below for more details:-- http://howtobyme.blogspot.com/2011/10/car-troubleshooting-tips.html

My steering wheel will not

Disconnect the column from the rack & pinion, And then see if the wheel will rotate left. If it does, then it IS the rack & pinion or some thing is jamming it. That is a classic sign of a bad rack & pinion. It takes more hydraulic pressure to turn left than to the right, and the and so the floating ball hits the seal harder, and wears it out faster. Then the pressure just returns to the pump in stead of moving the tires left.

NOTE: DO NOT turn the steering wheel more than it does when connected the the rack & pinion.
For this test one turn either way from center will suffice. If you turn it more, or fast, you will probably break the "clocking spring" inside the steering wheel. Then the air-bag warning light will come on. The spring tells the air-bag when its safe to fire the bag in relation to the wheels position.

Hope this helps.

How to repair plastic hose behind water pump 3.8

No, you do not have to take off the intake, but you do have to take off the Alternator and bracket. It is really an easy repair and the tubes don't cost very much at all. The tubes come off with the Alt. and heater hose bracket. Couple of odd metric, bolts I think they are a 15mm.

Have a 98 bonneville.suddenly started

i would get a compression check done on it,
if compression is fine you can get away with just the intake gasket
if you use dexcool i recommend mixing it 50/50 with distilled water
less chance of it becoming corrosive that way.

My Bonneville will quit running

This is most likely due to a failing antitheft system. Next time this happens, look for a light in the dash somewhere that says "security" or might be a picture of a car with a lock thru it. If you see this light, go to this link for help. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

My turn lever is broken

You have more problems than just replacing the lever. There is still a piece of the broken lever inside the wiper switch, and is nearly impossible to get out. You will need to replace both the turn lever and the wiper switch. Replacing the wiper switch is no easy task, and if you are not familiar with General Motors steering columns, it's probably best to pay a shop to do the repair. The top half of the steering column has to be disassembled, and the wiper switch harness fed up through the column.
