The car is overheating but ck eng light not coming on. The transmission catches hard intermittently. The rpms seem to be running higher than normal.

check for low coolant level.check coolant overflow jug if it is empty, more likely air is in the coolant system.add more coolant to overflow jug until coolant level stay at cold full mark, dont over fill coolant overflow jug.if all is good, to be on the safe side, replace radiator cap, replace thermostat,if your engine overheat at a long slow driving traffic.or long stop idling, if cooling fan dont turn on more likely engine coolant temperature sensor could be faulty.

My 1999 Sunfire has been stalling and not able to run!!

could be many things engine overheating due to waterpump getting bad, could have intake manifold leak, faulty idle air control valve or faulty ignition module or CKP sensor.check see if you have fuel pressure when engine stop, fuel filter could be stopped up or fuel pump going bad, pcm could be failing best bet take car to a garage have it diagnostic checked.because you will spend more money guessing buy lot of new parts you dont need.take car to shop where mechanic has diagnostic equipment some mechanics can fix cars by ear, thats old school mechanics, the new generation vechicles has more complex and has lots of electronic parts, you need special diagnostic scanner to trouble shoot them.

How hard is it to change a oil pan gasket

It's not hard ,but you need to know if there might be any obstruction that might get in the way preventing you dropping the pan down just make sure all the oil is drained before you start ,and make sure you clean both surfaces thoroughly before putting gasket on ,and you must tighten all bolts or screws evenly or it will leak .

Clunking noise comming from front

check your lug nuts first. if there tight jack the front of the car off the ground, then wiggle the tire left to right and up and down. if you have any play then your wheel bearings are out. if you dont have play then reach around to where your front wheel drive axle attaches and wiggle it in the same fassion. you should have your answer when you do this to both sides

Starter isnt clicking

If your starter isnt 'clicking' suspect bad starter relay, possible bad starter solonid, could be a dead battery, could be an open circuit between the ignition and the starter relay. Start with checking the battery, then the relay, solonoid, then check wirining and connections.

Car overheating, coolant blowing out of overflow

without knowing much about the particulars of the car I am at first inclined to go with what the computer says. HOWEVER I also happen to know if you have a bad or stuck thermostat not letting the coolant flow correctly it too can trick the computer into a head gasket error code. Most times you can get a new thermostat for less than $15.00 and change it yourself. It's usually 2 bolts. If you change it and still get the same result look at it as cheap insurance and then you'll know someone isn't trying to take advantage of you by telling you it's head gasket when it really isn't. Head gasket job's aren't cheap I would want to make sure before I spent that kind of money.

How to get my ignition lock out

Instructions

Test fit a drill bit in the lock cylinder. You want a bit that is just smaller than the cylinder. You will be using hardened drill bits to cut through the cylinder, since ordinary bits may be damaged by drilling metal.

Lock the drill bit into the drill chuck and tighten the chuck.

production in very fast delivery! special threading taps, plug gauge

Drill a starter groove into the lock cylinder. Start the drill on a low speed and create a groove in the end of the lock cylinder. You don't need to create a deep hole, just enough of a groove so that the drill bit will not slip on a higher speed.

Increase the drill speed to the highest setting and drill out the lock cylinder. Let the drill do the work. If you force the drill into the lock cylinder, you could burn out the rotor inside the drill motor

Wheel barren

The side that is bad will get less noisy when the load is off, so if you make gentle turns left and right the noisy bearing will be the one on the side of the direction you are turning.

I have a 1999 Pontiac

Sounds to be the dash itself. there is a chip in there and it sounds like it shorted out. You have to replace the panel. Junk yard would be best and cheapest.

Can i sand a flywheel and put it back in

If the surface is still smooth with no visible cracks, gouges, ridges, grooves, or deep impressions, or bluish tint indicating possible heat distortions, then yes, use a circular motion with the sandpaper. If you feel ridges or any roughness whatsoever when you run your fingertips around the flywheel's clutch disc face, then have it turned smooth by a machine shop. Any doubts at all about the surface, have it brought back to perfect smooth by a shop. Otherwise, clutch will slip and chatter. Turning it is always recommended, but not necessarily always needed. By turning, I mean the shop would cut and remove the surface to the lowest groove point and smooth it out from there. I have put clutches in without turning the flywheel at a shop, but I got a trusted mechanic's opinion first. His frank advice was, If it's on an older car, smooth is smooth.
