2002 Chevrolet Malibu Questions & Answers
I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu. As soon as I bought the car, I noticed that the turn signals would stop working here and there. I removed the dash panel and inspected the switch. It seemed fine, however the panel where it mounts was damaged. To be safe. I replaced the switch as well. I noticed also, the battery would be dead or very low in the morning. The odometer and display on the radio wouldnt turn off. I believe that's why it was draining. I unhooked battery and put test light between cable and post and pulled fuses until light went out. Honestly, I cant remember which. I let the car sit. I put the fuses back but decided to leave ground on battery unhooked so no drain would happen. I knew the ignition cylinder was the problem for odometer and radio displaybstaying on, so I went ahead and removed it, installed new ignition switch, cylinder and also, went ahead and got a new battery. After all this, I tried to start the car. It will start and run for 3 seconds. I posted a picture of the results my friends scanner got. I've tried to do the ignition relearn many, many times with no luck. I need some help figuring out what's wrong. I'm not the best at this kind of thing, but I can follow instructions well, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

2002 chevy malibu high idleing 3500 rpm when parked
Might need a new IAC, idle air control. If it is stuck open it can cause a high idle condition. Or you could have a vacuum leak. Is there a suction/whistle kind of Sound from the engine compartment that sounds new?
Cooling Fan 2 (A/C Fan) not blowing
Hi Everyone,
Hopefully this will help someone.
My 2002 Malibu, 3.1L V6 has been running hot in the afternoon summers here in AZ. Once it got close to the red line which really was unnerving. Immediately I turned the heater on (to use its radiator) to help cool the engine. Lately it has been running about about 3/4 of the Temp Gauge - over 220. YIKES!!! So, I did this.....
Open the FUSE / RELAY COVER SCREW (located in the black box next to the brake reservoir. NOTE - BRING A MAGNIFYING GLASS TO USE - THE PRINT ON THE BACK OF THE FUSE/RELAY COVER IS EVERY HARD TO READ)
**** Check FUSE 55 - COOL FAN #2 - GRND 30 A
**** CHECK FUSE 52 - COOL FAN #2 - 15 A
**** CHECK FUSE 8 - COOL FAN #1 - 30 A
ALSO go ahead swap four relays - Make sure there is no corrosion (Mine DID have a little) and Clean it up good.
SWAP (SWITCH ONE FOR ANOTHER) THE TWO 7234 - RELAYS -- #15 - COOLFAN MODE & #13
ALSO SWAP THE SWAP (SWITCH) the 7236 RELAYS.
In my case it was the Fuse 52 - Cool Fan #2 - WHAT A RELIEF!!!
BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL !!!!

2002 Malibu rear speakers , Sunroof and Passenger window dont work
It certainly is, and could be caused by a lot of things that are not necessarily related (such as blown fuses, faulty switches, connector problems). However, with speakers cutting out, you could have a serious wiring harness problem inside the car that is affecting all these systems. I suggest you get all of these checked out by a shop to avoid possible serious trouble.
Can a faulty theft system drain your battery?
I agree with Andrew about the battery and connections. If the battery is down, we're just spinning our wheels. You need to get it charged up.
My info says you have passlock security system, the majority of these systems are fuel injector disable, only. I looked at your starter wiring circuit, if my wiring diagram is correct, your security system has no control over starter motor circuit.
With passlock, it is the key cylinder that is matched to the security system, not the key. The key is just a mechanical key.
2002 Chevy Malibu Cassette Player will not work
Since no repair parts or repair manuals are made available to the consumer by GM then you must remove the deck from the dash and send it in for repair at a factory approved repair center.
Rear speakers on my 02 chevy Malibu not working don't know why iv tryed everything when I bought the car it worked and then out of nowhere it stoped working
If the radio fader is adjusted fully to the rear and there is no sound the speakers and wiring should be tested.
Best way of testing is to remove the radio to access the wiring to the speakers. Identify the pairs of wires to the rear speakers and apply a 9 volt battery to each pair. If the speakers and wiring are good they will make some noise and the fault will be either the connection to the radio or the radio is defective.
If no noise is heard when applying the voltage, the rear speakers should be accessed, disconnected and tested in the same way. If you have noise it is the wiring at fault. If no noise the speakers are faulty.
The result of testing can be verified at every stage by using a known good speaker and a couple of micro jumper cables.
