Import cars built prior to OBDII scanners are tough to diagnose. There should be a throttle position sensor that could be faulty, or you could have low fuel pressure. It takes alot of guessing or trial and error without a scanner and flow charts.

Check your fuel tank. On Mazda Familias had this fault and the problem was inside the fuel Tank. It was the inside separators get broken and affecting the fuel pump depends on which side the fuel pump was either left on turning or right.

Where is the smoke coming from ?Something leaking onto the hot exhaust ?Leak from the radiator or engine ?Is the radiator loosing coolant ?

• The majority of the time this is also an indicator that your brake fluid is below a safe level. Adding some brake fluid to the master cylinder and pumping the brakes a few times should remedy this.
• If this does not remedy this then you have a leak in the brake system somewhere or your master cylinder could be malfunctioning. Make sure the lid on the master cylinder is on tight and sealed well too.
• The master cylinder is where you fill the brake fluid. Do not over fill it.

you need to strip everything away from the top of engine and take off the cylinder head remove the old gasket and put new gasket on you must use a torque wrench for all the nuts if not youll damage the cilinder head , see haynes manual for your model.

when you get your new belt the parts store can get you one if you can't locate it under your hood usually on the front doghouse or air cleaner

did you blow a fuse when changing the light over?
