2002 Pontiac Grand Am - Page 4 Questions & Answers
2002 Pontiac Grand AM how many quart of transmission fluid will it take to make it full.
DEXTRON III goes in. I would rec to start with 5 quarts. It may take up to about seven. And it will just go right into the dipstick tube. If you have no dipstick the fluid level ***** is intended to be used for diagnosing a transaxle fluid leak or resetting the transaxle fluid level after service that involves a loss of fluid. .
The engine must be running when the transaxle fluid level ***** is removed, or excessive fluid loss will occur. Since the actual fluid level is unknown, stand clear when removing the fluid level *****. Have a container ready to capture any lost fluid.
WARNING: Do not turn the engine off with the fluid level ***** removed as you can be injured by hot transaxle fluid being expelled out of the fluid check hole.

2002 grand am won't crank and it's not a security issue
The ignition lights on the console all illuminate with the ignition on?
If you're sure that the immobiliser isn't at fault (try pressing the LOCK button on your remoter a couple of time..) non-cranking is either the battery, the starter/solenoid or both.
Can you boost start your car using a neighbor's car? If your car spins over and starts, you have a battery problem.
Before you do anything, check your battery leads - particularly the black earth lead where it connects to the bodywork and engine. A faulty earth can cause non-cranking
Why does it jump time?
It sounds like you may need a timing chain tensioner.
I looked on e-bay and found a kit which includes an "upgraded" tensioner, and includes all the pieces, for only 60 dollars.
God bless your efforts.
SE. Why won't it turn over?
if the battery light came on than there is a good chance the alternator has stopped working. If you can get it started again with either a jump start, charging the battery, or replacing the battery, check the voltage at the battery. You should see more than 14 volts. if there is less than 12 volts a new alternator should resolve the issue. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at
