I Have a 98 pontiac sunfire and need to change out the motor mounts . Which would be the easy way to do it ?

You need to lift the car up on some axle stands to make it easier, Then get a car jack and a block of wood, put the wood on top of the jack and put it under the sump on the motor, Jack it up until it is just against the sump. then loosen the bolts on the mounts.jack the engine up and carefully remove and replace the mounts one at a time.

1998 sunfire installed stereo and now dash lights and tail lights blowing fuse

Get a wiring harness connector for your 1998 GM car - THEN carefully follow each wire color on the harness. Do NOT connect anything to the GM orange wire except "Memory". Do NOT connect anthing to the harness for "Lights" or "Dash" or "DIM" - you will blow fuses. Only connect the Power, the memory and the speakers - period. Then you'll be safe.

How to disable my antitheft

The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM. These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. There is where the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle.http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.co

I have a 1998 pontiac sunfire with a 3 speed

First you have to be sure that they made a 4 speed for this car. When you get it (assuming junk yard) you will need the ECM and the engine/transmission wiring harness. Depending on the year of the transmission you will probably have to swap some of the plugs in the harness, so don't throw the old one away. Once you have it all together, then you will have to have the ECM reprogrammed for the engine and transmission.

I have a 1997 Pontiac

The key is most likely OK. So is the shifter. I would bet a $100.00 (that I can't cover) that the shifter is in a console "on the center of the floor". If so, the "electric/mechanical switch that you key cylinder actuates when it turns is on the top of the steering column, above the brake pedal. You will have to drop the column down with the 2 1/2 nuts, holding the column up to the dash, after the plastic cowls are removed. It will have a cable, that goes from the "electrical" switch, to the console. to activate/deactivate, the button on the shifter that depresses. Once it breaks, usually cloumn will lock "open" or "locked" .......no in between.

Have a 1998 sunfire wont

if it won't hald a charge, a couple of things may be the cause, 1. make sure that the battery is fully charged, have a LOAD test done on it,, just because you get a reading of `12 volts doesn't mean its fully charged in the starting sense,, you need a required amount of amps to actually start a motor, doing a load check on the battery will tell you if you have one or more bad cells in the battery itself, which will make you think that its a charging problem, once you have a known GOOD battery with the correct amps to start the vehicle,, go ahead and start it up,, with a meter, check the battery posts,, ( make sure all connections to the battery are clean and tight ) with the meter in place and the car running you should get a reading of between 13.5-14.5 volts, if you do then the alternator is doing its job, and you should have no more problems, if its not, again, then you have an alternator issue, or as your asking, maybe a belt problem, to address your question, a belt should have just under 1/2 inch of play at the widest section of no contact,,by that I mean,, if the distance between the power steering pump and the alternator has the biggest gap of no pulley contact,, thats where you would check for the 1/2 inch of play , On most newer cars you have an idler arm and a idler pulley that takes up the tension, so if you find that the belt is extremely loose, your problem may be in the idler adjustment, or it could just have a weak or bad return spring
