How to Change a Fuel Pump in a 2001 Ford Crown
STEPS TO CHANGE FUEL PUMP
- Park the vehicle in a safe place and make sure there is enough room around the back of the vehicle for you to work and move tools around.
- Start the engine and let it idle while you relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse or relay from the fuse box. Wait a few seconds for the engine to stall, turn the ignition key off and replace the relay or fuse.
- Raise the back of your car using a floor jack and support it safely on jack stands.
- Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe and the fuel pump connector located above the cross member underneath the vehicle.
- Disconnect the vapor tube from the tee connector on the right side of the car-passenger side-and the vapor line from the canister tube.
- Support the fuel tank with a jack and remove the nuts from the holding strap using a wrench or ratchet and socket. Move the strap away and lower the fuel tank. Discard the fuel tank mounting studs.
- Unplug the pressure transducer electrical connector located on the top rear corner of the fuel tank.
- Clean the area around the fuel pump mounting flange and remove the flange mounting bolts in a crisscross pattern.
- Lift the fuel pump assembly off the tank. Replace the new fuel pump in the assembly and install the assembly in the tank. Install the flange screws and torque to 89 inch lbs. (10Nm) using a crisscross pattern.
- Raise the fuel tank to its mounting position, install the strap using new mounting studs and torque the nuts to 26 foot lbs. (35 Nm).
- Connect the fuel pressure transducer electrical connector, vapor tube to the tee connector, vapor line to the canister tube, fuel tank filler pipe and fuel pump electrical connector.
- Lower the vehicle, start the engine and check for leaks.
Water pump failed. Car overheated.
Notorious for intake leaks, the composite plastic intakes crack and leak coolant-as to the lack of power, you mght have overheated it and done some damage to the engine. There was a recall (information below) for the 4.6 for the intake-the overheating and lack of power means you should at least have compression checked and go from there-you may have bad head gaskets or worse. Do a compression test before you do anything else.
Ford Motor Company will extend the recall (01M02) on
4.6L V8 equipped vehicles with plastic intake manifolds. Some of the
composite intake manifolds used on 4.6L SOHC engines may develop fatigue
cracks at the coolant crossover duct. This condition could result in
engine coolant leakage which, if not serviced, may cause engine
overheating. Complete loss of coolant may result in engine damage or
engine failure.

Does a 91 lincon towncar
It has a inertia switch. For accidents. It is located in the trunk on the passenger side , up by the back seat. It does not have a reset per say. If it is not the switch mentioned then try smacking the tank in the middle. This will jar the pump and if it starts working replace the pump. This will only work so many times.
Crown victoria Climate control is
ned to remove the radio and look at the blend door actuator on top of the hvac box. the actuator goes bad and doesn't move the door from hot to cold. if you see the actuator moving but still no cold air then the blend door could be broken.
My 2001 Ford Crown Victoria
Take it to a repair shop & then use the
computer to study OBD2 Systems & get
a cheap code reader
Look at a fuse, they do not fix anything
& hardy ever blow.
When you say check light has been on for awhile
Are you not aware of why the dash light come on?
They have been on all vehicles for 31 years now
Any dash light is a System Malfunction,& you need to
check for codes within a couple of days or stop using
the car, each & every time, unless you understand the
current OBD2 Systems & have at least a code reader
Not finding what you are looking for?
