Rear makes noise

If the little piece that is welded to the frame broke off from the frame, find a welder and have them weld them back up, shouldn't cost very much at all for a 10 minute job. However if the whole piece is broken, get a new one and have a welder weld it back up, cost a little more.

No 4wd

Most common problem is located under battery tray. There is a vacuum supply coming from top of Trannie going to a plunger style actuator that pulles the cable to activate the front diff. Either check for vacuum and fix or I've relocated plunger to top of motor so I can clamp with vise grips to activate 4*4

Starts fine after its ran and cut back off it wont start untill it sits a hour or two

Have you run any tests? The fuel line pressure and exhaust pressure are two that I would check first. First guess would be a clogged fuel filter (on the drivers side frame rail) or the sock at the fuel pump. But it could be something else. Is the engine light on? If so, can you have the codes read? The more information you can provide, the better. Any resent repairs that was performed or symptoms that you noticed.

PROBLEMS WITH IGNITION SWITCH CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH MY SPEEDOMETER AS WELL AS MY TRANSMISSION

definitely sounds like timing after reading over your other posts. I had a pontiac die unexpectedly on me in the same way, but luckily i knew an expert mechanic who filled me in. Passing it on to you as the likely culprit. about 800 to pay someone to do it, or it is actually not hard to do yourself with a socket set, screwdriver, gear puller and a weekend. Did mine with absolutely no experience at all (I was 16) and it worked perfect afterwards.

Intermitente starting problems & transmission seemed to go out the other day while driving it

sounds more like an engine issue off the top of my head. The transmission runs off the vacuum from the engine. If the engine timing chain is stretched it will run then not run, have problems idling and shifting and won't charge the battery properly. anyone who has done one before could probably tell you just by the sound of the engine running.

Fuse box diagram

Make sure the ground is good, that truck was known for a bad connector near the Trannie cross member. Find your plug at fuel pump,4 wires..2 black, gray and purple. Black and purple are for the float. Gray is power to pump, black with yellow is ground for pump. When key is turned grey wire gets power check good ground . If power and grounds are good replace pump if not fix ground or replace relay

Instruments don't work, key stuck in ignition, doesn't shift correctly

Sounds like you need a new car. With joking aside, the problem with your speedo, tach, gas guage, temp gauge and odometer can probably be one of two things. Check your fuses. If they are fine you may need to replace your cluster panel. I had to have the entire thing changed over my speedo not working right. It was not cheap. You might want to check the relay box under the hood. Does your transmission leak? Check the fuses and relay on it also. Get a new ignition switch and replace the old one if your key is stuck. You can try WD40 on that key but don't expect any miracles. The bearings are likely shot. Sorry I posted all of this bad news. Good luck.

I have a 98 Jimmy that when I try to start it the starter does not engage, I put a new battery in and it seemed to work for a couple of days and now it's back to the same problem. Any suggestions?

sounds like the starter is going, what happens is the battery had more power to help get the starter to operate a few more times but it is already shot. The part that will go on starters is the Bendix. It's the part that pushes the drive gear out to the front of the shaft to engage it with the flywheel. It's like a spring and plunger assembly with a magnetic part that pushes a fork on the gear while the key is turned and then springs back away from the flywheel once you let up on the key. You extra power from your new battery got it to push the gear out but was bound to fail since those parts were worn out. That's why you will hear the starter wizzing up but not engaging on the flywheel or you'll hear that grinding sound. that is due to the starter already turning the drive gear before the bendix has moved the gear forward. The gear is spinning and the bendix is stuck but then comes loose and tries to kick the spinning gear out and just grinds the flywheel without ever having the chance for the teeth to align first. bottom line is you will need a new starter.
