How to remove key cylinder on a 98 Mazda 626

Hello. If you have the key to unlock that switch in your car, you must unlock it to remove that switch. Once unlocked, that switch can be removed with 'Torks' six pointed sockets. Also, it's a good idea to put your transmission in neutral and set the parking brake. Make sure the new lock cylinder is in the 'unlocked' position before you insert it into its respectful hole. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

My mazda 626 has a strong potent smell coming from the exhaust

You don't mention what that smell is reminiscent of? You don't mention the colour of the "smoke" and you didn't say whether the engine is petrol or diesel? You don't mention whether the road behaviour/performance is normal? White smoke is almost always steam or in the case of a diesel it could be an unburned fuel mist, grey/black is excess fuel and blue or grey/blue is burning oil. Some steam is fairly normal until the engine and exhaust system is hot but excessive amounts could be one symptom of head gasket trouble. If the engine is drinking coolant and sending it through the exhaust as steam it will sometimes smell spicy. Burning oil smells a bit like burned eggs in the frying pan. If the car hasn't ultra-low sulphur oil and fuel the catalytic converter will convert sulphur traces into hydrogen sulphide - the bad egg gas...

Does the 98 Mazda 626 have a inertia switch and if so where is it located at?

More than likely, my vote goes to the trunk/tailgate area. Some are under the spare tire.

Replace starter. Car has been running fine for last 2 weeks, however today car won't start. Battery ok. What's the likely problem?

Ronald, When you replaced the starter, I assume you did disconnect the battery. Did you clean the posts before putting your battery cable back on? I replaced my battery a couple of months ago and did not clean them and my van ran fine for several days and then one day would not start. Cleaned the posts and cable ends and everything worked fine. Just a thought. Hope this helps!

When I depress my clutch the gears will not engage

If a hydraulic clutch, the fluid is low or has leaked, leading to air getting in the system. Thus the clutch will not disengage and let go of the gearbox. If a cable clutch the cable has broken or gone right out of adjustment. Also check the clutch pedal return spring, as these do break due to wear on the attachment hooks. .

Electric window drivers side will not work need to raise it

Could be the contacts on the swich. Hopefully the switch panel will pop out as a unit from above, otherwise remove the door panel, unclip the switch. Following that you should be able to open the switch and clean the contacts with a qtip and rubbing alcohol.

Check the switch before reassembling the door. If it doesnt work you should be able to swap the connectors with another switch or short the contacts in the switch.

Is there a way to cut an access panel on a 98 Mazda 626 to the fuel pump so I don't have to drop the fuel tank?

There is a way of gaining access without cutting the floor. You remove the back seat and there are four bolts under the mat if you remove them and lift the fastened cover you will see another cover which has some pipes and electrical socket connector fastenned with small philips screws, if you disconnect the socket , remove the screws and the pipes then lift the unit that is where the fuel pump and the fuel gauge is fitted.
