Where is the thermostat ?
Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5929960-s_thermostat . These are generic instructions. Specific instructions are provided below. If you get stuck, please get back to me.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the radiator to below the level of the thermostat.
- If necessary, remove the air cleaner assembly.
- If necessary, disconnect the coolant temperature switch at the thermostat housing.
- Remove the upper radiator hose.
- Remove the mounting nuts, thermostat housing, thermostat and gasket.
Do not pry the housing off.
To install:
- Clean the thermostat housing and the cylinder head mating surfaces.
- Insert the thermostat into the rear cylinder head housing with the jiggle pin at the top. The spring side of the thermostat should face the housing.
- Position a new gasket onto the studs with the seal print side facing the rear cylinder housing.
- Install the thermostat housing and 2 nuts. Tighten the nuts to 14-22 ft. lbs. (19-5 Nm).
- Install the upper radiator hose.
- If detached, connect the coolant temperature switch.
- If removed, install the air cleaner housing.
- Fill the cooling system. Connect the negative battery cable, start the engine and check for leaks. Check the coolant level and add coolant, as necessary.
Wont key start but will start by pushing it off
Its been a long time since you ask but check the main relay. It engages the starter and the fuel pump while cranking and after ignition a seperate fuel pump relay takes over. I had a car that did the same thing.
How to check and fix a vacuum leak
Spray so WD40 around all the vacume hoses and the top of the intake when you find the leak you wil know by the way it changes idle, you also might want to have your cataletic converter check it may be pluged that will keep the car from accelerating.
Gear shifter
looks like the shifter bracket workings as a mounting either is broken or stripped .
