I have a 95 jetta

Jetta uses 2 tapered roller bearings on each side.
Remove the dust cap off the centre of the drum. Remove the split pin. Remove the nut and washer. The drum will now come off. Clear the rear axle of all brake dust and grease. Remove the races from the drum by using tapping them out. You wil need a metal dowel (I us my socket wrench's extention). Clean out the old grease and assure that the race seat is propely cleaned When reinstalling the new race use the old one to drive the new one in. Be careful and make sure the race is properly seated as incorrect fitment will lead to premature failure. Fit a new grease seal(dont forget to insert the bearing first)

1991 manual jetta won't shift into 5th gear.

Unless you are familiar with working on VW's and have the Bentley service manual for your Jetta, it's probably best to let a VW mechanic or someone who is familiar with them to work on this problem. Special tools are required to properly adjust the shifting cables.
The problem may not be the linkage but a worn shifter. You will still need the service manual to do this right. You can get it at BentleyPublishers.com. Hope this helps.

91 jetta won't start ... what could be the

I would check to see if you are getting spark to the plugs, could be a bad control module or a bad distributor rotor. Can you hear the fuel pump come on for a few seconds when you turn on the key? If the starter is not turning over, it could be the starter solenoid or the ignition switch is not sending any power to the small terminal on the solenoid.

Jetta 2, First gear is where reverse gear is. No

You may have some excessive play in the shifter bushings or the shifter lever itself. Also check the shifter linkage to the transmission to see if everything is connected.

The wiring for the switch runs out of the seat belt and down into the door. You'll have to remove the door panel to get to it.

How to replace rear wheel bearings

If it has drum brakes, you'll need to take off the center dust cap, remove the cotter pin, remove the nut and washer holding the drum on. The outer bearing should fall out, the inner bearing usually stays in the drum, due to the grease seal. With the front bearing and washer off, put the drum back on and install the nut, then pull the drum, allowing to the nut to catch the inner bearing as you pull off the drum, and that should leave the inner bearing and seal on the spindle. Pack the new bearings with grease, install the inner one in the drum and tap in the grease seal in place, but the drum back on and install the outer bearing on the spindle, the wash, nut, cotter pin and dust cover. Tighten the nut snug and turn the drum a few times and snug up the nut. Don't overtighten it.

Clutch keeps coming out

if you mean the clutch doesnt engage until the pedel is nearly all the way out (up) .. then there is an adjustment for that called "free pedel adjustment" .. its usually a 5 min job .. however if there is any clutch chatter or noise then you may need a new clutch plate ... a bigger job ... one way to burn up the clutch plate is to allow it to slip for a long time ... and thats what will happen if the free pedel adjustment isnt done soon ... if your problem is not that then maybe you can expain more ....

How do you take the driver's seat out of a 1991

Unplug the seat belt warning plug, under the seat. You'll need to remove the right side seat track cover, it has 2 plastic inserts holding it down, push the little pin thru the insert. On the other side, at the end of the track, remove the black seat stop. Then at the front of the seat, on the bottom, in the center of the seat, there is a small seat track, at the front of the bracket, you will a screw and a 10mm nut. Remove them, lift up the seat lever (like you were going to move the seat up or back) and slide the seat back until the seat is out of the tracks.
