1994 gmc sierra 1500 timing

The timing may be adjusted only on those that are equipped with a conventional distributor ignition. if equipped with the distributorless Electronic Ignition (EI) system, the control module set timing and makes all necessary spark changes. On these systems, the cranksshaft position sensor is mounted in a fixed position, therefore not allowing for adjustment. The HVS system found on some 1995-97 vehicles is also not adjustable.

I got a new alternator

Unfortunately rebuilt alternators these days may be of poor quality depending where they are purchased. Try finding one with at least a two year warrenty so if it goes bad they will replace it at no charge. You can always get a new alternator from a dealer but expect tp pay around double of what a rebuilt one costs.

1998 gmc 1500, 192000 km.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You need to scan your computer since your check engine light is on. If you don't have a computer, take it to Autozone or Advanced to have it done. They can do it for free. In all honesty, there are over a hundred things in the vehicle that can turn the check engine light on. The light is on because the computer has detected a problem in your vehicle. This is your best bet, this way, you are not waisting time and money on parts you don't need. If it is the O2 sensors, it will show up on the scan. 192,000 miles is a lot. Things are starting to ware down. The egr may need cleaned or it could be the engine. By getting the test done, it will point you in the right direction.

I like to know how

First, drain the oil from the pan by using the oil drain bolt. Once you have drained the oil, then undo the bolts on the pan and pry off the pan. Take the old gasket off and cleaned any pieces of gasket and/or adhesive off of the pan and off of the motor. At this time, I would inspect the pickup screen on the oil pump and make sure it is clear of any debris. If it needs cleaning, then clean it. (This is a great time to replace your oil pump if this is an older car. Check the price of an oil pump for you car and if its not too much, it might be a good time to replace it. This is optional, just wanted to mention it.) Back to the gasket. Take the new gasket, put gasket compound (get it at auto parts store) on each side of it. Place the gasket in its place on the underside of the motor and then put the pan in place over it and replace the bolts that hols the pan on. Tighten snugly. You will need to replace the oil that you drained out by adding new oil to the oil filler tube under the hood until the oil level is correct. Once your new oil is in and at the correct level, your car is ready to start. Check for leaks around the oil pan. If you see a leak, tighten bolts, one at a time until it stops. Dont crank down too hard on thes bolts, they can break. It should not take much forse to get them tight enough to keep it from leaking. This is usually not a problem.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak, A dry rotted hose with cracks is usually the problem. Listen from where the sound is coming from and you will be able to pin point a small area of vacuum lines. Good Luck

What is p0300 dtc codes

P0300 = random misfire most common problems are O2 sensor bad, intake manifold leaking, or catalytic converter plugged up check your o2 data see if one side is reading lean or rich. make sure your short term fuel trim is ok.

if your o2 sensor is not reading normally replace the sensor.

look at your misfire data. if its one whole bank its probably a intake leak.

see them alot with o2 sensor problems and catalytic converter problems. if its not those 2 things then its an intake manifold.

basically thats the 3 things that fail on that vehicle, very common also there is a bulletin for a bad PCM ground. located at the front of the engine on some vehicles or on the back side. right bank. its a ground strap that attaches to the block. it can also cause an intermittent misfire problem

On my 1999 suburban 1500

if you have 1 of the newer type code testers, there is a selection on them consisting of yes or no, this is to notify you if you want to remove the trouble code from the system , or not, if you select the yes button to remove the code , it will take the service engine light out, if you do not have 1 of the code testers, then, you can disconnect the positive battety cable for a couple of minutes, then reconnect it, if the light still stays on , go to you closest local auto parts store, let them hook up their code tester, and remove the code for you, hope that this information has been helpful.
