can we assume you have checked the fuse pannel under the hood and also tried high bweams incase the bulbs are fried

Number one should be at the 5 o'clock position. Then the plugs should go 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 around the cap in a clockwise direction.

check you fuses inside and under the hood frist.then see if you have power to your pump. you can try hitting the bottom of the gas tank. some times it will make your pump work. you can take your gas cap off and see if you can hear the fuel pump work . good luck

Question edited for clarity. Question moved to correct category. That is not the way to fix it. You remove the AC Pump and install a bypass pulley. It keeps the same belt, route and tension.

We have a 2000 GMC 6500 454 engine. Truck will shut off, we turn off the the ignition wait for about 4 or 5 minutes. Doing waiting time, if you turn the ignition part way on, you can't hear the fuel pump, and if you try to start, it will not start . But after the 4 or 5 minutes, when you turn the ignition part way on, you hear the fuel pump, then it will start. It will shut down with a heavy load or even with out any load. It seems to do it more often when it's really hot out. It will shut down as much as 10 times.
