1988 MX-6 GT once in a while won't start, wiggle
Check to make sure both battery cables are tight on the battery. Make sure the positive(red) battery cable is tight where it attaches to the starter. The other end of the black cable will be attached to the engine block for ground, check for loose bolt. If everything is tight, look for corrosion damage on the cables. You may need to get under the car to check the wires on the starter to make sure they are all tight. If you don't find any loose wires or cables and the cables and battery are good, then the starter may be going out.
My 1988 mx6 mazda car starting dying out plus
Hi
If you have a new battery and it dies it means that the alternator is bad. The alternator is what replentishes the battery and run the car while you drive it. A simple test is as follows start the car, while the motor is running discinnect the (red) positive cable from the battery. The motor should continue to run....If it shuts off it means that the alternator is bad. The battery is only used to start the car! After its started it runs off of the alternator which also constantaly recharges your battery. Have any questions email me at

CAR IS NOT CHARNGING THE BATTERY BUT WHEN I
You problem could be one of two thing a charging problem or a battery dying. yes you can get the voltage but not get the amperage to charge a battery. Do the lights dim at idle and brighten as you accelerate? Does the car continue to run but the battery goes down after sitting for a while? DO NOT DISCONNECT THE battery cables with the vehicle running as this can result in damage to the charging and other systems. Here are things i look for (1) does the car start on it owns without a jump? (2) does the vehicle idle smooth? A dying battery uses more charging load on the alternator and can result in rough idle and poor performance and gas mileage. (3) this is an odd one but but has helped int he past, does the battery smell like rotten eggs? When a battery is dying it can stink when it is getting a charge from the alternator. To be sure go to your local auto parts store for a free battery and charging check. Takes few minutes and no cost. Hope this helps.
