Check wheels and steering for loose parts, wheel, hub/bearing, check to make sure all nuts and bolts are tight, Check Inner and outer CV joints for damaged boots and make sure the hub nut is tight. Grease the components that have grease fittings, tie rod ends and ball joints usually. Check the brake calipers for tight mountings, the upper ball joints should be inspected for wear, as should any steering linkage component. Also check suspension arms for worn or degraded bushings, upper and lower, and that their mounting bolts are tight to frame.

Also look for plastic parts that are loose- it they can move close to a tire, they may be a possible source of the noise as well. Including a dust shield rubbing against the steering shaft- llok for bright areas where something may be rubbing against it.

Either the shifting cable is out of adjustment, you can test this by disconnecting the cable at the transmission and seeing if it's fully in park. Or the parking pawl inside the transmission is broken.

The wiper should not move regardless of battery change as the wiper switch should have isolated it.It seems to be the only ,as you say, strange thing and would be inclined to believe that that is the probable cause of your fault.Do like your testing method and hope you track the fault down.Good luck and happy new year.

Take your vehilce to a new mechanic which specializes in vehicle alignment. Make sure they check your braking system for bad brake pads or faulty brake spring systems. Also check for alignment tie-rods out of alignment. This could cause a clunking sound when going over hills on a turn, or bumps in a turn.

Bird or dirt dobbers may have nested there while the car was setting for that perod of time. Check the suspension on that side for anything that may be causing resistance.
