1998 GMC Sierra 5.7L 350 Vortec surging

Check all your vacuum hoses especially at the PCV coming off the valve cover it is often over looked. The PCV fits loose either put a new bushing in the cover or add some black tape to the PCV at least until you figure out that might be the issue. Also your timing should be at TDC or 2 degrees plus or minus. Contrary to popular belief You can use a timing light you can see the timing mark know about where it is and line up the fly wheel mark accordingly.

When i start my truck daylights come on and work great when i turn on my headlights it stays on daylight they do not get any brighter i checked my high beams and they work fine

The light switch doesn't make them get brighter. Your lights are working fine. If it seems dim to you. Look at the light lens. If they are plastic, they can be sanded( 1000 grit sand paper) and polished back out. This helps, but if the lens is to yellowed or crazed, it won't help.

When I'm driving down the road it jumps not all the time just ever now and then

Could be poor fuel or an ignition problem. Has it just started hapening after a fill up? or did you use a different fuel ? IE/ There are a few different fuel mixes. Standard through to premuim. Sometimes this will cause your car to "miss" if its supposed to run on higher octane fuel.

It starts perfectly but why does it shut down immediately?

Sounds like an issue with the passlock II security system. You're definitely not the first person to experience this. You can find videos using google to show you how to bypass it. It involves measuring the resistance and and then wiring in the proper value resistors from your local Radio Shack

Gauges Stop working and transmission quits shifting

Sounds like a "ground harness" issue. Most likely a common ground for the cluster and TCM.

Why 4x4 doesn't turn all 4 wheels at same time? 4hi-4lo

4X4 actually provides power to the front 2, and the back 2. Unless the back has limited slip or posi-track, if 1 wheel spins, the other will not turn. Since the front wheels have to turn at different rates to accomodate turning radius differences, there is (usually) to limited slip on the front differential, so if one wheel spins, the other will not turn. So, if you have one front wheel spinning at the same time as one back wheel is spinning, and you don't have posi-trac, you're stuck. Cheerfuls.

How to adjust headlights.....1998 GMC

Open your hood. Look right above your headlights just inside the hood area, you'll see a small steel rod sticking up. To it's outside, against the fender is another one. They have tiny hex heads on them. Find a good fitting socket and adjust away. The fender side rod is in and out, the inside one is up/down.
