Hi check all air pipe lines on and around inlet or induction manifold for damage or leakages . Check throttle sensor ,idle control valve or sensor ,throttle body might require servicing and adaptation with diagnostic equipment .If the vehicle has a manual acceleration system cable might be sticky or damaged.

there could be something wrong with headlamp switch? For rear exterior lamps, check the exterior lamp fuse. Not only check the fuse, check for voltage on the fuse circuit.

The 99 cavalier 2.2 and 2.4 both use a timing chain and yes, if the chain breaks it can damage valves. If the engine still cranks over you can remove the upper coil module cover, remove a spark plug, roll the engine over and see if compression builds. If the engine does not crank over, the broken chain will prevent the engine from turning.

It has a chain if it is the 2.0L or 2.4L four cyl . And they are not interference. The V6 model is also chain drive and is not interference.

if the car is fuel injected, holding the gas pedal to the floor will actually cut off your fuel injectors - which may make it worse. You need to check fuel pressure, you want to make sure the fuel pump isn't bad. Also, check your battery. Hope this is helpful :-) -Scott

check with the dealer there might be a recall for that model. and to get the switch out you will need the key. or a drill. depending where the switch is located on the column or dash. each has different steps to remove it

check for spark while cranking...

no spark/fuel at the same time seems awfully coincidental, but it could happen...more common for fuel issue, verify that and go from there...

You will have to go back into the steering column & check to see what you didn't put back in the right way for the horn to work.

Does it ding with the seat belt latched ? if so you probably need a Multifunction Alarm Module or have a shorted wire . Was the vehicle in an accident ?

Take the fuse out and disconnect battery then remove four bolts from rear of steering wheel holding assembly in place then remove and disconnect switch and your ready to go

Have you checked if the engine is getting fuel?
