I don't know the 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, but that shouldn't matter.
Starters have a very simple wiring.
The thing you have to do is find the solenoid wire because all the others go on the one terminal.
Start by attaching the main (thick) cable from the battery to the main terminal on the starter.
Then turn the ign. key on. Nothing will light up.
Try touching each of the smaller wires onto the main terminal until the ignition lights come on. Fit this one to the main terminal permanently.
Now that you have power to the ign. switch, you will be able to find the solenoid wire. It will help if you have a volt meter or test light for the next step.
With someone sitting in the car to work the ign. switch, you test each of the other wires as they turn the switch to the "Start" position. The wire that gets power to it is the solenoid wire and the ONLY one that doesn't go on the main Starter terminal.
The solenoid wire obviously goes to the terminal on the solenoid.
1999 chevy cavalier transmission won't shift into
1999 cavelier manual trans: My son was shifting his manual trans really rough (ramming through the gears to try to beat someone out at a light) and ended up not being able to put it into anything but 3 and 4 (straight up and down). We noticed that the shifter cable, that actuates the position of the arm on the transmission, had pulled away from a "c" clip and was not held into place about 8-10 inches down the cable away from the trans. The cable needs to be secured into that clip in order to let the wire inside move the trans. lever to shift. Otherwise you will be stuck on what ever "rail" your trans is on at the time of disconnection. It would be the first thing that I would check.
How do I fix door lock that is stuck in unlocked position
If you can hear the lock solenoid clicking in the passenger door, then most likely the problem is that the linkage connecting the solenoid to the door lock has come off. There are small clips, many are plastic, that are used to retain these linkages and they can can break and come off if there is and binding/wear/aging of the parts. You will need to remove the inside door panel to access the linkage. The clip may be reusable if it only popped off; otherwise you'll need a new one. Many auto parts stores sell packages of these types of clips or you can get one from a dealer. If the solenoid is not clicking, then the problem may be the solenoid itself or possibly a damaged or broken circuit wire.
How do I fix there are no interior lights 1999 Chevrolet cavalier
If changing the interior light controls to make sure the lights come on (it could be set too low or even turned off~ check your car manual to see how to adjust these settings) you could have a blown fuse. I'd check your manual on your car's fuse box location and then check to see if you have any blown fuses.
