the steering wheel lock is holding the key. start the car and turn the wheel to a different location and the then turn off the engine and remove key. Else the ignition key switch is bad
Hi there:DTC P0121 - Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance ProblemThe Throttle position sensor is a potentiometer that measures the amount of throttle opening. As the throttle is opened, the reading (measured in volts) goes up. The powertrain control module (PCM) supplies a 5 Volt reference signal to the throttle position sensor (TPS) and usually a ground also. A general measurement is: at idle = .5 Volts; full throttle = 4.5 Volts. If the PCM detects that the throttle angle is greater or less than it should be for a specific RPM, it will set this code.Symptoms of a P0121 trouble code could include:* Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination (Check Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light)* Intermittent stumble on acceleration or deceleration* Blows black smoke on acceleration* No startA code P0121 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:* TPS has intermittent open or short internally* Harness is rubbing and causing an open or short in the wiring* Bad connection at the TPS* Bad PCM (less likely)* Water or corrosion in connector or sensorPossible Solutions:1. If you have access to a scan tool, see what the idle and WOT (wide open throttle) readings are for the TPS. Check if they're close to the specifications mentioned above. If not, then replace the TPS and re-check.2. Check for an intermittent open or short in the TPS signal. To do that, you can't use a scan tool. You'll need an oscilliscope. The reason is because scan tools take samplings of many different readings over just one or two data lines and can miss an intermittent drop out. Hook up your oscilliscope and watch the signal. It should sweep up and down smoothly with no drop outs or spikes.3. If no problems were noticed, perform a wiggle test. Do this by wiggling the connector and harness while watching the pattern. Does it drop out? If so, replace TPS and re-check.4. If you have no TPS signal, check for 5 Volt reference at the connector. If it's present, check the ground circuit for open or shorts.5. Make sure the signal circuit isn't 12V. It should never have battery voltage. If it does, trace circuit for short to voltage and repair.6. Look for any water in the connector and replace TPS as necessary.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.
I had a similar issue to yours recently. The PKG LIGHT fuse was out in the fuse block under the hood. I had no running lights, no instrument panel lights and rapid dinging when I open the door like an indicator of the headlights being left on. It is a 20AMP fuse in slot 37. There should be another fuse in one of your "spare" slots. Hope this helps.
First off check the fuel Injectors fuel filter and air filter as for the white smoke sounds like you're burning oil if you ran out of gas the sediment at the bottom of the tank goes in to you're fuel system
may be you should
make a diagnostic and you can do it in a garage or you can do it by yourself
if you want to do it by yourself you need
some tools
and you can find some good ones here: DIYOBD2.FR
What is your mileage???? You might have a plugged cat. converter. Most people don\'t realize that when you start your car it takes 7 miles to warm it up and then another 7 miles to blow out the moisture and hydrocarbons. They drive to work, car sets for 8 hrs. Drive home sets all night, weekends short trips to the store ect ect and when you couple that with that corn oil crap they put in the gas a number of things can and will go wrong.
It could be your serpentine belt. Road tar can get into the groves of the belt and cause sticking to the pulleys which will translate into a squeaking or chirp sound. To check, with the engine running use a spray lubricant (not water and above all not belt dressing. The dressing will only make matters worse) If the sound go'es away that is your problem.
If your lucky the dealer may still have it or the code may be written down at the back pages of your manual. The other place where you can get the code would be www.radio-code.com. before you try any of that, try 0000 to unlock your radio. Good luck and hope this helps.
Not CAM or Crank angle sensor.. Try check supply fuel line pressure n spark plug n ignition coil output.. the ignition coil output should be blue spark n spark jump at least half inch.. But be careful coz its hi tension..
If it has the 3.8L Engine, it is on the right side of vehicle on the back of the engine just below the exhaust manifold bolted to the engine block by two or three bolts..You will have to look hard for it. It is pretty well hidden, even hard to just check the fluid level on these models. Here is a link to a video that shows how to access the Power Steering fluid reservoir. -->> VIDEO You don't necessarily have to remove the coolant reservoir to get there but it will help. i know this is for a 2005, but it is in the same place on yours.
What would lead you to believe it is not?
If the oil pump where not working. It would take about 20 minutes or less of driving before the engine starting making a lot of noise and possible seize up. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/jeremy_d728a59f986299fa
