They are just rusted,broke loose. Unfortunately, some one will have to underneath the car the hold the bolts to tighten.

It is a $800 job usually because you have to access the timing chain case. So the timing chain is usually replaced with it. To get you started , take off the front pass. wheel then plastic panels to see crank pulley. then jack support motor to take off engine mount. If your not discouraged yet, buy a $25 book and continue with timing chain removal directions. This is no easy job. I take 10 HRS.

If it grinds when you try to put it in 1st or 3rd, it might be syncros in the transmission. If the shifter just won't go to those positions, I would suspect the linkage needs adjustment. It would be unusual for the linkage to require adjustment unless the car was worked on or otherwise damaged.

The ignition key would have lock and unlock buttons on it, for remote luck and unlock of the electric door locks. If that is not enough information plug your vin number in on GM website and get a build list.

Do you mean the car is running, or it's stuck on accessories? Does the key shut off one notch, or not at all. If it does turn off one notch, does it turn on again easily just not off?. Sounds like your key is worn, ignition is worn , or your car is not locking in park properly. Is this something new, or has it been stiff moving lately? First I'd try pushing gear shift into park firmly, even putting it back into drive ,then into park again. If that doesnt work, try wiggling the steering wheel as you try to turn the key off. If that doesnt work, try pushing in and out on the key as you are trying to pull it back and out. Let me know how this works and if it doesn't work, we can try some other methods. When you do get it out, take your car permit into a pontiac dealership, and they can cut you a new key by the VIN number. Don't get a key cut from the key you have cause it's worn out and will only make another bad key. The dealer has the code they need to cut it the way it was when it was new. Let me know how you make out. If the key is stuck on the acc position and all the accessories are still on, disconnect your battery so you don't drain it. Let me know.

Are you sure that in order to turn the key to the off position you need to push the key in and then turn it to off? That model may have a release button for the ignition located on the underneath side of the column.

it sounds like a partially plugged fuel filter, change it out and see what happens.
