Most likely the brass bushings on the door hinge needs to be replaced. It's common part that needs to be replaced, it's simple job and you can buy the replacement bushing at Auto Zone and they can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done. no either the cable is disconnected from the pedal or it is snapped in either case you can't engage the brake with your hands it requires alot of force

It may need a gas cap, and if you do make sure you get it from the dealer. Not all caps sold on the aftermarket are right for your truck. The code that sets is "evap small leak detected" and while the cap is the most common cause on newer cars, all it takes is a tiny crack in a hose to let the air into the closed system. Replacing a 4 year old cap is the easiest, but if it comes back you will need to find a shop that has a smoke machine. There is a port on the system you hook up to and pumps smoke at very low pressure into the closed system and you follow all the lines until you see smoke coming out of the leak. It is work the cost to have it diagnosed because you cannot find the leak with out the machine and the repair is generally nominal in cost. In most states it will not pass inspection with this light on.

check at almost any autoshop and iam almost sure they will know about this legendary defest on suburbans it is some tipe of shaft under dash board and the engine my sub had it before i bought it but the dealer fixed it in about 2 hrs,i had a sub 2001 with same problem and dealer replaced it too it will go away for about a year and then you will deal with it again,since they replace it with the same cheap part,check out this website www.chevytalk.com and you will find a replacement part that will last longer.

there is a cable running from handle to brake assembly it is probably broke there is a release lever under there on brake about a one inch lever hold down on brake and move this and let up on pedal.

Check the tail light bulbs, check to make sure the dash lighting switch is turned up but not turned so far up that the interior lights come on when the door is closed.

This can be something simple like a faulty gas cap or the gas cap not sealing properly - start there, but if the condition continues can also be one of the purge valves sticking (one on the engine, one on the frame rail near the gas tank). Last stop is the fuel tank pressure sensor which may be faulty or a leaking hose in the system. Not smart trying to use a regular key.
