Engine surges only after it warms up!
It sounds like an intake manifold vac leak. After the engine warms up use a can of spray carb cleaner at all edges of the intake. Use short bursts of the cleaner and see if the RPM changes. If it does you have a vac leak. That means replacing manifold gaskets.
1990 Corvette
This may be related to the antitheft system. The system is known for turning off the starter and/or injectors when it fails. Normally when the injectors are turned off, the car will run for a second or two, and then stall. When it's the security locked out starter, you won't even hear a click when you turn the key. Is there a light on the dash that says SECURITY or a picture of a car with a lock through it? This is a common problem worth looking into. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/
Power to the fuel pump
If you have tested for voltage at the pump wiring and find none, remember the ECU may not supply pump current if it finds signals missing from critical sensors. There is also an inertia switch in the circuit I think.
Heater blower motor runs without the key on
Replace the relay or resistor first. Relays can stick closed, will cause a fast blower. Resistors can be fast to slower speeds. After that is burnt wires somewhere. Personally , I look at the wires first, Check them for ground shorts and impedance. Have an Ohm/volt meter?
1990 corvette engine races and takes off when brake pedal is depressed. Happen in drive and reverse. Getting scary.
Hi Jackie , It doesn't have to have a code stored in the ECM memory for a problem too exist . need some more info from your if you would like some ideas as to the problem !
What engine does yours have ? 5.7L ? What type fuel system does it have - TBI - throttle body fuel injection ? I had vehicles at the Chevy dealer I worked at with this type fuel injection , where the engine raced really fast . Vacuum leaks , bad plug wires can cause this problem . The engine computer is compensating for more air entering the engine ! After fixing the problem it still was racing , you have to drive the vehicle an get the speed up over 35 MPH for the ECM to reset !
Orifice tube installation
The orifice tube is located in the evaporator inlet pipe at the liquid line connection. The evaporator is located in the right rear side of the engine compartment. .
Will not start
Resistor in key may be bad or your VATS system could be the problem. If key resistor is bad, computer can't recognize the key. Vats is the worst thing ever installed in a Vette
Why is heat blown out when ac is comp is working
You may have either or combination of two problems.
1- low refrigerant - may have a leak.
2- no vacuum going into a/c heater control - and the air mixer flap is bringing in hot air from heater core as well. The vacuum hoses on most GM products are hard plastic, and tend to get very brittle with hot engine compartment.
