You are going to want to check your engine pullys. I replaced battery and starter before I figured out my AC was froze up. If that belt dont turn it will not start. Or even crank over.

How do i change blower resistor
First, switch off ignition.
(see image) you will see the blower unit. The resistor is screwed into this. Detach the electrical supply (see pic) then unscrew the faulty resistor. Install new one.
This is for a 1998. But I believe it is the same
Flashing battery light on 1992 Chevy Astro
There are a few different things that can cause your problem. When the problem is occurring, disconnect the alternator plug, start the engine and measure voltage with a voltmeter. Connect a test light to 12V, reconnect the alternator connector and back probe the brown wire with the test light. Check to see if the alternator charges else, replace the alternator. Also, you may have a faulty instrument cluster. If you need more help on how to repair your alternator I would suggest checking out this sites HowTo section

timing? if you've got gas and you've got spark, have you checked the crank/cam shaft position sensors? have you put a timing light on it to see if you might have jumpped timing?

Sounds like a bad ignition module. The module does two functions. It runs the ignition coil and also delivers the signal to the ecm to run the injectors. Sounds like it isn't putting out a tach signal.
My 92 astro will start
The fuel pump may be corroded from the water. You can check it's operation by turning on the igntion a few cycles waiting a few seconds between and seeing if it runs every time [ the PCM will turn it on for a few seconds without the engine running], If it's inconsistent, then it may be the problem, but check the relay under the hood first.

Did it backfire beofre you did the service? I'm guessing you have the wires mixed up.
