rotten egg smell is most of the time an O2 sensor.Goto your diagnostic connector and bridge the A and B posts with a paper clip. Turn on your truck to the"run" position.Your service engine soon light will start to blink, first once, pause, then twice. That's a code 12-means your computer is in diagnostic mode and will now give you all trouble codes.Three blinks is three and so forth.Codes are always repeated 3 times and are double digits (12,13,14,ect.).If the service engine soon light stays on and doesn't blink your computer is the problem and will need to be taken to a shop for further diagnosis.

does it make any difference if the engine is cold or warm ? if when its warm and it starts ok your spider part is not working properly or not plugged in right check it again .. check it by using starting fluid if it starts ok its the spider part bad .. did you replace it with new ? holler if you need more Jerry
Runs rich and is hard to start has 4.3
Check the fuel pump relay located inside the glove box .If its bad the fuel pump will still get power through the oil pressure sending unit its a safety back up system but will make a long cranking condution. Also check your fuel filter located under the drivers door on the frame rail inline . And i dough its running rich .Pull your spark plugs you have to go in from under the wheel wells for most .If they look white then its running lean .I would check the fuel filter before it cooks the fuel pump first. Spark plugs tell a story if you can read them . And how is your exhust system thats a nother big factor on how the engine performs extremaly imporant on the 4.3 vortec
No brake lights
Replace your brake relay switch located underneath your brake pedal arm.

dont know if this will help but have you replaced the coolant sensor (by the thermostat ) and the pigtail that connects it to the wiring also the map sensor may be part of the problem my 92 s10 did some what of the same thing and I replaced the temp sensor and that didnt fix it untill I put a new pigtail that connects to the wireing my son had a blazer that also did that I think ( its been a while ago ) and we replaced the map sensor and that fixed it
I have a chevy Blazer 1993 with a 5.7 L engine,
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. It may be the ECM that is bad. Without the codes, we are going in the dark here. I am assuming that you already checked to see that your getting fuel. Check your cam sensor and check your crank sensor. You need to check them correctly with schematics so your not buying parts you don't need. Check your distributor, cap, all coils/plugs, and wires. Check your timing belt/chain. Check all electrical components to all these parts. Most times these issues occur, it is due to an electrical issue more then it is the actual part. Like I said before, it can also be a defective ECM. The ECM controls all the functions in the ignition system and calculates everything. Maybe why it didn't respond to the scan.
I have a 1993 chevy blazer with the 4.3 vortec and
if mtr is missfiring u may need 2 go through the ingnition system ie spark plugs leads/dizzy cap/rotorarm its also a good idear 2 replace the fuel & air filters or get it 2 a mechanic & have it run up on a tune scope.
