I have a 700R4 Transmission in my 1992 chevrolet Caprice Classic and when i first take off in it,it runs kind of loud but when i mash the gas a little and get up to about 35 or 40Mph then it will change to second gear but thats the only time it shift and then it seems to run good then. What do that sound like to you? Should i have it rebuilt or is there a part that has malfunction on it or what but the transmission hasn't went all the way out? I have all ready put another filter on the transmission!!!!!!
Dude.. You need to adjust the TV cable or it is broken. It runs from the throttle to the transmission. It sounds like it is starting off in the wrong gear. All of this is due to that cable man! Have it checked out before it burns the trans out! Also; make sure it is full on fluid, and DO NOT over fill it. After you have driven it for a while, stop on level ground, put it in park, and check the dipstick. check it many times, and go by the low side of the stick. It may read up there on one side but low on the other, and if this is the case it is low. The fluid should show full on both sides of the stick. When changing the filter, there is a grommet type seal that goes up in the valve body, and they are very hard to change without the proper tool to do it with. A common mistake is some people think the old one is out and put the other one in, and have two in it. This will cause all kinds of problems. If that seal gets damaged it will **** air and cause the trans to give problems. Good Luck!

If the pass key fault becomes engaged on my caprice, does it shut the fuel pump down too?
NO, check oil pressure module. Bad module (red ligh of check engine on) or a bad cable can interrupt the fuel pump voltage. This is a security to device to induce car to turn off when the oil pressure drop near 0. and to protect the wholee engine

Chevy Caprice 1994 w/ new distributor, check engine light comes on and off around the same time that it has trouble getting out of 1st and 2nd gears (automatic). Giving plenty of gas it does shift but lurching forward and not smooth. Doesn't have this problem when cold. Transmission fluid level and quality are fine.
If it has over 60000 miles it may need a transmission service, which includes a filter and fluid change, fluid may look fine but if filter is clogged and not picking up fluid fast enough when u give it gas the pump spins faster and forces fluid thru to shift, more fluid is needed to shift into higher gear.than to drive

How do I read the trouble codes on a 1994 Cherovrolet Caprice Classic. I cannot find scanner that will do it and according to the Haynes manual of putting a jumper on the scanner plug, that doesn't work either.
Only thing you can do yourself is to pull off the connector on the computer and check pins for corrosion. If you can get another computer on "loan" you might try plugging it in. though its somewhat rare (it should be) computers do fail. On older cars you can likely get a replacement in any scrap yard. sorry I can't help more, but with no readings, everything points to what I've said. You should also check ignition switch to amke sure power is coming out of there to remainder of system.

Cooling fans on 1994 Caprice classic with 4.3 v8 not coming on. I have replaced the temp sensor on the water pump, temp sensor on the block, all relays, fuses are good, replaced the ecm (engine control computer). Gave up and took it to an mechanic, they sent to electrician who now says the even though the temp gauge is rising when the temp goes up it is not sending signal to computer to kick fans on. Does the gauge send the signal to the fans? Seems everyone else has been telling me the sensors go straight to the ecm to turn on the fans. thank you CW
On a vehicle this age, it is likely that the fans themselves have worn out. Test the fans by running battery power directly to the positive contact. If they start, they are OK. On 4.3 motors, there is also a seperate temp sensor to signal the fans, usually called a fan switch. I believe it operates independent of the ECM. Another possible culprit is a bad ground at the fans or even a loose or corroded negative battery cable.

what does the 94 Chevy Caprice Classic wiper arm assembly diagram look like . the windshield washer hose appears to be disconnected from the wiper assembly,
heres a wiper linkage asm diagram, the wiper washers are on the hood or on the cover to deck, then the hose runs through the wiper arm to a nozzle, if you remove the arms you can lift cover enough to look at the hose to washer connection, also check hose to arm they often break there good luck.

how to bypass key fault in a 94 caprice classic
Hello! Behind the instrument panel just to the left of the steering column is the location of the Theft Deterrent Relay...Pull the relay...The wire colors on the relay socket are...Purple...Yellow/Black...And 2 Yellows...Cut the two Yellow wires free of the socket and splice them together (solder)...The Theft Deterrent System is now permanently bypassed.

car acts like it is out of gas, engine light comes on. will start up run for a few seconds then die. driving down the road will do the same thing, pull over, wait ten minutes and runs and drives again.
The car needs to be scanned. It is free at Autozone, Oreilys, and Advance autoparts. Get the Code number for the bad part. The clerks can tell you what is wrong.
