Loss of power, studdering at high rpms when at temp.

Sound's like it break down due to no oil or water circulate the engine. Or wrong spark plug gap. So it increase too much heat. -Try this: 1. Flush the engine. Flush the coolant. 2. Check spark plug gap (Adjust to correct gap) 3. Check oil pressure. If it's low then new oil pump is need. Good Luck Mai

Can't get my 96 chev s-10 to pass inspection due

Here is the drive cycle procedure for that vehicle, and let me know if you require any further assistance.

Running an OBD-II Drive Cycle

The purpose of the OBD-II drive cycle is to run all of the onboard diagnostics. The drive cycle should be perfomed when any trouble codes are erased from the PCM or if the battery was dis-connected. Performing the drive cycle will reset the monitors so that any further trouble codes can be detected.

The OBD-II system drive cycle begins with a cold start with the coolant temperature below 120 degrees F. and the coolant and the air temperature sensors within 10 degrees of each other. (The ignition key must not be "on" or in the "Run" position until the cold start or the heated O2 sensor diagnostic might not start)

1. As soon as the vehicle starts up, idle the engine in drive for two and a half minutes with the AC and the rear defrost on if equipped with a rear window defroster. The OBD-II will check the O2 sensor circuits, the air pump, and the EVAP purge.

2. After the two and a half minutes turn off the AC and the rear window defrost, and then accelerate to 55 mph at half throttle. OBD-II checks for any ignition mis-fires, fuel trim, and canister purge.

3. Hold steady at 55 mph for three minutes. OBD-II monitors the EGR system, the air pump, the O2 sensors and the canister purge.

4. After the three minutes decelerate down to 20 mph without using the brakes or the clutch. OBD-II checks the EGR and the purge functions.

5. Accelerate back up to 55 mph at half throttle. OBD-II checks for mis-fires, fuel trim, and purge functions again.

6. Hold steady at 55 mph for five minutes. OBD-II will monitor catalytic converter efficiency, for any mis-fires, EGR function, fuel trim, O2 sensor operation, and purge functions.

7. Decelerate to a stiop without using the brakes or the clutch. OBD-II makes a final check of the EGR system and the canister purge functions.

My chevy s10 want shift out of park what can I do to fix it?

There is a switch on the brake pedal that you must fix. This allows you to shift out of park only after the brake is applied.
Assuming since it goes in Park that its an automatic otherwise if its a shifter on the floor there is an actuator under the rubber around the shifter which if you lift it up yiou will find that you can manually move the piece which allows you to move the shifter.

Think i have a vacum leak on my 1996 chev s10

I have found vac. leaks by taking a can of starter fluid and lightly spraying the hoses you suspect are bad, do one at a time and see if the engine revs. up, if it does you have a vac. leak close to where you sprayed the starting fluid.......Hope that helps...

1996 4.3 wont start. Turns over, Spark OK, fuel 55psi

Fuel pressure is a little low. Will it start with a couple shots of carb spray in the throttle body? If it does and continues to run than the fuel pump is not providing enough pressure to to open the mechanical poppet valves on the end of the injectors. minimum fuel pressure is 58 psi. One PSI below spec is enough to make it not start. Also check to make sure there is spark at each cylinder. just because there is spark at the ignition coil does not mean it is getting the the spark plugs. you may have a bad cap or a rotor that is burned through. disconnect linkage from transmission. Try moving the shift lever on the trans itself. If not binding the issue is with the linkage.
