Voltage is available at all times through the STOP/HAZ fuse to the torque converter clutch (TCC)/stoplamp switch. With the depression of the brake pedal, the contacts in the TCC/stoplamp switch close. Voltage is available from the stoplamp relay on pickups, or the TCC/stoplamp switch on all of the other vehicles, through the turn/hazard switch to the left stoplamp, the right stoplamp, and the stoplamp lights. If a turn signal is in operation, the stoplamp on that side flashes as a turn signal. The other stoplamp serves as a stop lamp.

I replaced my distributor in my 96 chevy tahoe and now there is a loud clunking sound when I start my motor not every time and it's only once or twice what could it be?
Distributors are very tricky and must be installed perfectly. It sounds like you may have installed it incorrectly or the distributor could be broken. How I fixed a mistiming issue on a Jeep with a distributor was I loosely bolted the distributor onto the engine and kept turning the key. The car wouldn't start but it kept cranking because the distributor was not even plugged into the engine. What will happen is that when everything lines up the distributor will drop on its own into the sequence and the car will start. At that time you can turn the car off and tighten it down. That's what I did a couple years ago with the Jeep and she's still running perfect today. There's many other much more difficult ways to do this, but this is the quickest way I found and it worked. It took a few tries but was all worth it in the end. Hope this helps!
