97 chevy tahoe wont shift
The transmission is probably a 4L60E or 4L65E the third and forth clutches and steel are probably burnt out or the clutch piston has blown it's seals very common on those transmissions.
The automatic shifter snaped and nor will not go
my 1997 chevy tahoe starting doing the same thing one day it wont shift our of park you have to start itthen shut it off but not the key all the way then push in the brakes start it an then shift it in nuetral then it run s fine but you have to do thart evry time you shut it off can t figure it out
4 wheel drive not working on 1997 chevy tahoe
the first thing i would do is change the transfer case control module. it is located under the dash on the drivers side close to steering column. looks like a silver box with two screws.

this just happened to mine, you have a short some where. then the system doesn't get power the switch does this to tell you something is wrong, probably just a fuse, if its not the fuse, then you may have corrosion on one of your electrical splices. This may need to be brought to a mechanic otherwise
