I have a 2006 Chevy

I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD and the engine light came on. I went to Auto Zone who did a quick check and found it to be a failed EVAP vent solenoid.
I took it to the Chevy dealership who stated it was a solenoid 3.130 part # 19207763 and repaired it but said it was not under warrenty. I have approximately 41,000 miles on the truck. When I look in my owner's manual it does list the canister vent solenoid as an emission warrenty.
Is the part they repaired the same thing?

***IMPORTANT INFORMATION YOU MUST READ*****

Ok everyone, listen up....If you have a 04 and newer silverado, with a failed evap vent solenoid, you have to read this info. Do not pay $100+ for this part(actually $150.00 at the dealer). The following part numbers associated with this part have been gm#19207763,19152349, and AC DELCO #'s 214-2082 costing over $100.00 for the modified part. This is for the modified part, with the relocation of the filterbox, and the added hose that seperates the two. No one at Gm will tell you this, but this same part, that was origionally on your silverado, is also used in the 2006 Suburban. It will be an identical replacement for what is ON YOUR TRUCK, and the cost is $24.04 AT THE DEALER. I know this because I own a 2006 silverado, and a 2006 suburban. Looked at the suburban when the part went bad on the silverado(from overfilling the tank)and bingo, same part. Ask a parts person at GM, and they will tell you otherwise, but they are lying to you. Bought the suburban part today part # 25932571 (GM #) and everything is identical, right down to the numbers stamped on the part itself. Took the part off my silverado, put the replacement on (which gm told me is not the right part), cleared the codes, and bingo no more light after 3 consecutive starts...... Why, is it that GM feels we need to pay the price for something they did wrong???? And moreso, lie to us, telling us the $150.00 part is our only choice to fix the problem. My truck went 40K miles with the origional part, and probably only went bad because of my own stupidity in overfilling the tank, whay would I not just want to spend $24.00 to put on the same part, that will probably go the rest of the life of the truck with no tank overfills???? I say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR EVERYONE THAT HAS BEEN SCAMMED INTO PAYING THE RIDICULOUS PRICE that GM is trying to **** out of us.....Please pass this on to the world, and every forum you can...Get the word out....Let the parts people at GM know we are on to their BS, and they can't take advantage of us like they have.....

Hi,

The vent solenoid might be bad. You need to see If you are getting power to it. The computer provides a ground for the solenoid. You can test it by applying a power and a ground to the solenoid to see if it operates and open's and Close's. ( I am taking into V6 engine ).

i have a 2006 chevy

i have a 2006 chevy 4x4 silveraldo, charging system failure on dash with low voltage on gauge. Have replaced battery & alternator twice. Still have problem...

  1. Test the voltage going to your battery using a multimeter. The voltage should be around 14.3-14.6 volts when running. This would mean your alternator is working fine.
  2. If the voltage is around 12 or less, you should check your Alternator fuse, and the wiring leading to your alternator.
  3. At the alternator, measure the voltage going to the main power wire/post for 12 volts with the engine off. Is the voltage equal to battery positive voltage (B+)? If not, repair the circuit.
  4. If your alternator is charging correctly, you may have a faulty instrument cluster, or a short in the wiring.
  5. Inspect the Battery case, posts, hold-down clamp, cables and connections for damage.
  6. Inspect the Generator drive (serpentine) belt for condition and tension to make sure there is no slip between the belt and the pulley.
  7. Inspect the Generator pulley.
  8. Check the operation of the charging system warning indicator in the instrument cluster. Normal operation is as follows:
  • With the key off, the charging system warning indicator should be off.
  • With the key on and the engine off, the charging system warning indicator should be on.
  • With the engine running, the charging system warning indicator should be off.

where is the fuel filter

where is the fuel filter located on 2006 chevy silverado 1500 ext.cab?

Chevorlet did away with the inline fuel filter on the Silverado, so your truck does not have one that can be serviced or replaced like the earlier models had.
They have a "lifetime" filter/strainer built into the fuel sender inside the tank...I hope this helps.

Hello, this problem is due to a failing stepper motor. The stepper motor is the motor behind the gauge that controls the
movement of the needle. When a stepper motor begins to go out it will cause the gauge needle to stick, skip around, stay
at zero or max out on the gauge. The only way to fix the problem is to replace the stepper motor with a new one. While
replacing one motor it is best to go ahead and replace them all as the others will go out in time as well. Youre cluster
will have one motor for each gauge. Here's a link to a page showing exactly how to replace a GM stepper motor and where
to get the correct parts to do the job!

The fuel level sensor consists of a float, a wire float arm, and a ceramic resistor cord. The position of the float arm indicates the fuel level. The fuel level sensor contains a variable resistor, which changes resistance in correspondence to the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. The Engine Control Module (ECM) sends the fuel level information via the class 2 circuit to the instrument panel (I/P) cluster. This information is used for the I/P fuel gage and the low fuel warning indicator, if applicable. The ECM also monitors the fuel level input for various diagnostics. What you will need to tackle this is a Chilton's manual so you will have the correct schematic on your vehicle and a multi meter so you can find out if its the fuel level sensor that is faulty or maybe it in your wire harness. I can explain to you what to do but if you never have preformed it before your only going to be more in the dark then now so if you are going to attempt this on your own go on you tube put your fault code P0461 and there is a video on what to check to make sure what is at fault, I caution you please check all the wiring and your plug connector first don't run out and buy a new fuel level sensor thinking it going to fix your problem that would be a 250 dollar mistake it may be in a faulty wire or signal wire I have found on most of the ones I worked on road salt played a big part on corroding the wires out and it was a simple fix. good luck God Bless
