Over an extended period of time gas will evaporate in a carburator. It's possible that presure is leaking off in your fuel pump as well. A weak pump will have trouble maintaining pressure over a period of time and will have trouble building pressure back up. Starting the engine on a regular basis and letting it run for a few minutes will cure the problem and help keep the engine seals from drying out and leaking. Converting to an electric fuel pump will also make it easier to start after sitting for a period of time.
Any generic LOW PRESSURE electric pump will work. It only needs to put out between 7 and 9 or 10 pounds pressure. Unhook the fuel lines from your mechanical pump and hook to the electric. The li ne from the tank goes on the inlet end. The electric pump usually ground through the case so it needs contact with bare metal or a wire running from the case to bare metal. Run the power wire to a powered wire in the engine compartment that powers on and off with the key or to an accessory fuse in the fuse box. It should run through a 20A fuse.
Hope this helps.
How to wire box truck for tail and brake lights?
The wire harness for the back lights comes in 2 pieces. Undo the center bolt at the fuse panel on the engine side of the firewall and pull the left side wire harness off the fuse box. That is the one that goes to the back of the truck. There is one wire in it that you will have to cut because it doesn't go all the way back. The second connector is under the box near the rear bumper on the driver's side. It runs to the lights from the first harness. It is prone to corrosion and may be your problem. If it is just cut it out and splice the wires together, using connectors and heat shrink tube. Then tape over the tubing and you should be good. Chevy tail lights are also prone to chaffing inside the box at the tail light so if you are haveing trouble check for that. Just tape them up and repostion them so they don't chafe. Also check the ground wires at the back. They very often rot off or stop making a good connection from years of road crud. The light sockets are available at any auto parts store if you need them. Hope this helps.
I hooked a wiper motor now my car wont start makes
make sure your battery is fully charged,make sure the battery connections are good and tight,check wires on the starter also.if that dont help .pull the starter off and take it to a local parts store,they can check the starter..you can try to have someone turn the key to start it while you tap the side of the starter with a hammer.(light tap or two}
My turn signals quit working on my 1979 c70
some of these trucks used a flasher for turn and a flasher for 4-way hazard so you may find 2 flashers in the dash, also dirt is a big problem around grain dust and whether in the column turn indicator stick or the ******** column ones a good cleaning will do wonders at times, granted the original in columns are hard to access to clean
Want to put a toggle switch for my wipers in my
safer to buy and replace with new or one from salvage yard than to splice wires to wiper motor u will get one speed -but can be done splice off power from hot side of fuse to one side of switch disconnect harness and connect of other side of switch to line to w/w test which one is reg speed and splice in
When it goes uphill it cuts out and dies but
There isn't enough gas in the float bowl to cover the jets when the carburburator is tipped. If it's been rebuilt recently the float wasn't set right or if it hasn't been rebuilt, it's probably time because sediment is starting to build up in there. Hope thishelps.

Faxonautoliterature lists the original GM service manual for your van, which includes wiring diagrams, for $54. They have excellent service.
Hope this helps.
99 Dodge Caravan Needs Brakes
You could upgrade to an exotic ceramic brake pad, but under normal driving situations this is overkill, expensive and will not give you "impressive" results.
The Mo-Par OEM stuff is really quite good!!!
It's more important to make sure that you flush out old fluid at least every two years and make sure that slide pins and all hardware are in good working order.
New rebuild chatters
adjust your valves your oil pickup tube needs to be adjusted you need feeler guages to adjust the valves down properly
make sure lifters and oil pick up tubes are not clogged
feeler guage is---> thin pieces of metal cut to different sizes to hold under valve adjusters till the play and chatter gone
check by book what the feeler size needed for adjustment
Replaced distributor on my 1988
Hi, I have pasted the procedure below. Your spec is 0 degrees (right at TDC).
CHECKING AND ADJUSTMENT
HEI Systems
- Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Stop the engine and connect the timing light to the No. 1 (left front) spark plug wire, at the plug or at the distributor cap. You can also use the No. 6 wire, if it is more convenient. Numbering is illustrated in this section.
Do not pierce the plug wire insulation with HEI; it will cause a miss. The best method is an inductive pickup timing light.
- Clean off the timing marks and mark the pulley or damper notch and timing scale with white chalk.
- Disconnect and plug the vacuum line at the distributor on models with a carburetor. This is done to prevent any distributor vacuum advance. On fuel injected models, disengage the timing connector which comes out of the harness conduit next to the distributor, this will put the system in the bypass mode. Check the underhood emission sticker for any other hoses or wires which may need to be disconnected.
- Start the engine and adjust the idle speed to that specified on the Underhood Emissions label. With automatic transmission, set the specified idle speed in Park. It will be too high, since it is normally (in most cases) adjusted in Drive. You can disconnect the idle solenoid, if any, to get the speed down. Otherwise, adjust the idle speed screw.
The tachometer connects to the
TACH terminal on the distributor and to a ground on models with a carburetor. On models with fuel injection, the tachometer connects to the
TACH terminal on the ignition coil. Some tachometers must connect to the
TACH terminal and to the positive battery terminal. Some tachometers won't work with HEI.
WARNING
Never ground the HEI TACH terminal; serious system damage will result.
- Aim the timing light at the pointer marks. Be careful not to touch the fan, because it may appear to be standing still. If the pulley or damper notch isn't aligned with the proper timing mark (see the Underhood Emissions label), the timing will have to be adjusted.
TDC or Top Dead Center corresponds to 0°B, or BTDC, or Before Top Dead Center may be shown as BEFORE. A, or ATDC, or After Top Dead Center may be shown as AFTER.
- Loosen the distributor base clamp locknut. You can buy trick wrenches which make this task a lot easier.
- Turn the distributor slowly to adjust the timing, holding it by the body and not the cap. Turn the distributor in the direction of rotor rotation to ******, and against the direction of rotation to advance.
- Tighten the locknut. Check the timing again, in case the distributor moved slightly as you tightened it.
- Reinstall the distributor vacuum line or the timing connector. Correct the idle speed.
- Stop the engine and disconnect the timing light.
