1989 Chevrolet Celebrity Questions & Answers
Will not start, does not get fuel
I would check the fuel pump. When you turn the car on (not start) do you hear the pump? Have someone turn the key and listen at the rear of the car, if not...fuel pump may be bad.
Howdoi remove the oil filter on a 1989 celebrity?
If I recall, that is a rather small filter. There would be a filter remover that fits over the end of the filter and is turned with a ratchet wrench. They are called oil filter cap wrench, at any parts store. There are about 3 different sizes of oil filters, so you need to find the proper fit for your filter.
You put the cap over the end of the filter and use a 3/8 drive ratchet wrench to turn the filter counter clockwise to remove. Once off, wipe the filter surface clean with a rag. then put fresh oil on the new filter's rubber gasket and install only hand tight-as tight as you can get your hands to turn the filter. OR, you spin new filter on till the rubber gasket touches the base of the engine block. then turn filter 3/4 turn more.
Where is the replacement area
Search under the steering wheel area under the dash. Try to operate it and listen for a click. Replace the turn signal flasher if the clicking is too slow or too fast. It should click around once a second or so to be legal.
Most GM vehicles from the 1980s and 1990s had the flasher near or attached to the steering column area. This is the first place to look.
Good luck on this repair.
