How do I fix the liftgate sensor on a 2005 nissan quest
I purchased a 2005 Quest that had same damage on the rear lift gate. If I crossed my eyes and pressed down on the magic spot 3% of the time I could get the door to close in a way the sensor would recognize so I didn't have the door open light turn on.
Too fix this problem I removed the interior panel from the lift gate which allows access to the the lock and some of the wires. almost directly behind the licence plate you have access to the inside the lift gate you should see 2 wires that appear to be going down the latch. I'm assuming one of these controls the power locks and the other is for the feedback sensor that tells the car the door is open.
on the drivers side of the opening that exposes the wires going down to the lock you will see there is a white connection for 1 of the 2 wires that is mounted to the inside of the lift-gate. All I did was squeeze and separate this connection and the car no longer recognizes the door is open.
I don't have an alarm so I don't know if this would mess up the alarm other than if someone broke in through the lift gate it wouldn't trigger the sensor.
I hope this helps
2005 Nissan Quest - odometer
Hi, I think you can see the top 2 screws of the cluster, right? If you remove those, will the cluster rotate down? I think it just has tabs at the bottom and will lift out of slots after removing the connectors from the back. I recommend you just replace the whole cluster, as you can get a new one for about $70. Make sure you order the right color. Please let me know if you have questions. Here is a link to order a cluster, but you may want to shop around:

Does the timing chain and anything to with oil
Yes and no. If the oil pump is going bad the Connecting rods will knock. The Timing chain could be making the sound if the Chain guide came free. My guess is you have a 7 - 70 warranty and they are trying to get out of rebuilding your engine.
Battery good. but no power to start van. no dash
Check fuses. Many vehicles now have two fuse boxes. One, in the cabin and another under the hood. The box under the hood often has fuses that protect many of the vehicle's higher level electronics, systems and other high current devices. Get an automotive fuse tester, voltmeter or physically remove & visually inspect for open / blown fuses (visual inspection is the least reliable method) in BOTH locations.Replace any open fuse with proper size & type as determined by the owner manual or legend that often appears on a label affixed to the protective fusebox cover. If it blows again, do not replace the fuse. There is a problem that should be corrected before re-attempting. if you can't locate / correct the problem, you should have the vehicle checked by a pro.Good luck!
