Valve lash 5.9 360
The 360 gas motor uses Hydraulic lifters and no valve adjustment .
If you're running a hydraulic valvetrain it's not really lash, it's preload. You adjust it on the back of the lobe when the valve is fully closed. There are charts out there that tell you what the correct adjustment order is, but the way I have been doing it is:
Turn the motor to #1 tdc and adjust both valves on #1
Then hand turn the crank 90* or until you reach the next slot in the harmonic balancer-
adjust both valves on #8
and so on. The slots indicate tdc firingfor each cylinder. Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
Headlights on 1997 dodge ram keep going out
My 95 Dakota did this. When they go out, verify it is the feed by trying the high beams. If they also won't work, look at the feed terminal at the headlight switch.Mine had a overheated terminal pin, causing an intermittent open. You can probably find a replacement pin, replace it,and clean the matching pin on the switch.(I replaced the switch, only to end up taking everything apart again to repair the overheated pin).
New altenator still over charging
any or most cars charge at about 14v the battery will or should show 12v this is normal for any car is it burning batterys out also there is but not on all cars a relay which regulates the charge going to battery but unsure of your model as from uk but there is a few things for you to check hope this helps ivan
Low beams only work part time.

1997 dodge ram no heat
There was a TSB about this problem that involved installing a one way check valve in the vacuum line that supplies the HVAC box.
Make sure that the vacuum res. is not cracked.
I filled the cooling system and my 97 ram still wants to run hot over 200
when was the last time you changed out your thermostat and what temperature thermostat did you put in if it was 195 degree your not running to hot at 200 did you flush out your system clean it real good. check your drive belt (fan) not worn out or to loose for water pump, radiator core blocked or grille dirty, buy or have radiator cap tested it must maintain radiator pressure also check ignition timing.
What is the evaporative emissions
Hi, this system prevents fuel tank vapors from overpressurizing the tank or escaping to the atmosphere by collecting the vapors in a charcoal canister and holding them until there is an appropriate time to burn them in the engine. The computer decides on the appropriate time and opens the purge valve to **** vapors from the canister. Is there a problem we can help you with?
Fuel guage shows empty even
Most probably the sending unit in tank that's gone bust. Remove sender unit and move fload up and down while ignition is on and observe gauge movement,
We have a 1997 Dodge
Hi there,
Before you start dismantling your interior dash, you should firstly confirm it is in fact the resistor. Otherwise, you could be making unneccessary work for yourself.
Have your vehicle diagnostics checked (Aircon system) first - this will tell you which circuit is having problems.
Once this is done, we can guide you from there.
Cheers,

To determine how your speakers are amplified you will need to know what speaker package is installed.
Usually Laramie editions come with Infinity speakers.
If I remember correctly the Infinity speakers have appliers on them.
My dodge truck is a year 99 2500 series, and I have already had to replace the door speakers. I used the cheap Walmart speakers. (6x9) They fit well enough.
Note: If your truck came with amplified speakers, non amplified speakers will only push what your radio can provide it in Wattage.
There is a strong smell
ashley72189, I believe that you diagnosed the problem right. One question, does your windshield fog up when you use the defrosters? This will confirm it but once again, I believe that you are right. Now, here is the problem. Chrysler has put the heater core inside the airbox that has to be removed before you can get it out. The procedure for this is quite lenghthy as the entire dashboard has to be either removed or taken apart enough that you can move it out of the way to get the airbox out. This means that the steering wheel has to be disconnected from its mount and sat on the drivers seat. All the electrical plugs will have to be disconnected, The cooling system has to be drained and the hoses disconnected from the heater core on the engine side. The AC system has to be discharged and those lines disconnected on the engine side as well. I believe that the repair system used by most garages will state that it is a seven to nine hour job. I don't believe that I could explain everything here with out missing a few things that need to be done. If you want to do the job yourself then my suggestion to you is to purchase a Mitchell or Haynes repair manual for your particular vehicle. You can find these at most auto parts stores. Haynes will show you the exploded views and step by step of what has to be removed and how to do it. If you have any questions about this then post a reply and I will help you out as much as I can. Good luck with this.
