2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Truck - Page 3 Questions & Answers
How do you put a belt on a 2004 dodge ram diesel pickup
Going to assume it is a 5.9 cummins. Use a 3/8 or 1/2 inch drive ratchet in the hole on the belt tensioner to push or pull the tensioner away from the belt. You'll have to run the new belt around the pulleys and then move the tensioner back enough to get the belt back on and then the tensioner will spring load against the belt holding it on. There should be a diagram of a drawing of how the belt goes or you can draw your own picture of how the belt goes around each respective pulley. Find a library or go on line for belt diagrams. If the belt won't stay on it is time for a new tensioner too.

2004 ram3500 transmission slippage when warm
Hi, transmission slipping normally does not occur when the transmission is warm, as warm temperatures favor proper working of the automatic transmission systems. Nonetheless, if problems such as, broken transmission bands, gears or torque conversion already exist, then the transmission might slip even in warm temperatures. Another situation may arise, if the fluid suffers from contraction in cold weather and gradually the weather warms up sufficiently, to expand the internal parts and fluids. Then due to cold weather, a small transmission problem might occur. However, the problem may be too small to affect the vehicle. However, warm weather cannot be directly linked to transmission slipping.

What causes my ABS brake lights to come on. (2003
This abs light may be on due to a bad wheel seed sensor, this is the most common reason, some dodges use the rear sensor inside the top of the rear diff, or one at each rear wheel but the front is one at each wheel, whenever the abs light is turned on by the computer it stores a code of what went wrong, for example the code may read b1022 right front wheel sensor, this would tell you there a problem with that sensor, this is pretty simple the only thing is getting the codes, a scan tool needs to be hooded to truck in order to get the codes, the most common one that goes bad is the rear one in the differentail, once the problem is fixxed theres no need for scan tool, just drive down the road and light will reset, check the front sensor wiring and if they look good and you dont want to scan it then start with the rear, but i would have it scanned and get the correct one from the start. hope this helps.

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram with a Cummins diesel
Dodge truck's are notorious for automatic tranmission problems. If you change the fluids, thoroughly examine the filter for anything strange, metal filings,
plastic pieces, etc. If it's determined that you need a rebuild or a
replacement.
The more common problem would be a wiring issue, The wiring harness
going to the transmission may be bad, or you may have an open or shorted
wire somewhere. If you have a scanner be sure to check the Throttle
position sensor, It is imperative that it is functioning properly, as
well as the PRNDL, or nuetral safety switch.
Hope this helps; keep us updated.

Sounds like one of your driven accessories is froze ie. waterpump, A/C comp, PS pump, etc. assuming you have enough antifreeze in it...or if not the water pump could have ice inside, pull the belt and try to spin all your accessories by hand to see which one is not turning freely...see if that points you in a good direction
