What causes my ABS brake lights to come on. (2003
This abs light may be on due to a bad wheel seed sensor, this is the most common reason, some dodges use the rear sensor inside the top of the rear diff, or one at each rear wheel but the front is one at each wheel, whenever the abs light is turned on by the computer it stores a code of what went wrong, for example the code may read b1022 right front wheel sensor, this would tell you there a problem with that sensor, this is pretty simple the only thing is getting the codes, a scan tool needs to be hooded to truck in order to get the codes, the most common one that goes bad is the rear one in the differentail, once the problem is fixxed theres no need for scan tool, just drive down the road and light will reset, check the front sensor wiring and if they look good and you dont want to scan it then start with the rear, but i would have it scanned and get the correct one from the start. hope this helps.

Sounds like one of your driven accessories is froze ie. waterpump, A/C comp, PS pump, etc. assuming you have enough antifreeze in it...or if not the water pump could have ice inside, pull the belt and try to spin all your accessories by hand to see which one is not turning freely...see if that points you in a good direction

look on the drive shaft where its saying and make sure the toothed ring that the ABS sensor picks up on hasnt come loose on the shaft if it has a couple of spot welds will fix it ,worth a try ,but i cannot see that affecting the gearchange but who knows with american vehicles

Dodge truck's are notorious for automatic tranmission problems. If you change the fluids, thoroughly examine the filter for anything strange, metal filings,
plastic pieces, etc. If it's determined that you need a rebuild or a
replacement.
The more common problem would be a wiring issue, The wiring harness
going to the transmission may be bad, or you may have an open or shorted
wire somewhere. If you have a scanner be sure to check the Throttle
position sensor, It is imperative that it is functioning properly, as
well as the PRNDL, or nuetral safety switch.
Hope this helps; keep us updated.
My 2008 Dodge 1500 5.7
is the shaft from the transfer case to the front axle spinning? Check to see that your locker solenoid is still plugged in there's a plug on the drivers side rear of the engine about 10 inches from the starter that's the plug to the locker solenoid. If its plugged and your front drive shaft from the transfer case spins your locker solenoid is likely bad.
What is the procedure for replacing ball joints in
first put truck on jack stands and remove tires then you will need heavy duty impact to remove axle nuts then remove the four bolts that hold wheel bearing in you access them from the back side of rotor on the spindle then remove the brake caliper and bracket you will need a puller to put on the rotor or studs and push against the axle shaft dont forget to unplug speed sensor if equipped after you remove rotor and bearing assembly the axle will slide out allowing you to get to lower ball joint nut remove both nuts and steering rod use ball joint fork and remove spindle use press and remove and reinstall new joints put back in reverse order be very careful with left side axle make sure its clean and hold it up in the center as not to damage seal when going back in because it is bear to replace i hope this helps you allow yourself a good day for this job

I would have the batteries tested at your local Sears or auto parts store. 6 year old batteries on a diesel motor is probably about at their life expectancy. If it's bad now, it will get worse in the colder weather. Probably need to replace them. Good luck.
